    Good morning all!
Managed #8 yesterday, so thats over half way!
We didnt go to visit MIL yesterday, the weather was so bad and TBH, I think OH just needed a day of doing absolutely nothing! He's had a lot of driving back and forth plus all the upset, so I was happy for him just to relax. We didnt cook either - OH treated us to fish & chips last night which went down VERY well!;)
We'll go to visit MIL on Saturday instead.
Got the first of four scarves finished yesterday, I need to get cracking as they are for Christmas presents!
Today will not be a NSD as it's grocery shopping day. Im also off to "spend" my Tesco vchrs.:D

Thanks for the advice re the B Daly range Spoon, good to know that it doesnt irritate your skin, what with me and my pesky skin.
On that subject, I have an appt for dermatology on 8/12, so not too long to wait. Funnily enough, my skin seems to be clearing a bit - I think I've had a bad reaction to soap powder actually, however I will reserve judgemnt till I've seen the consultant.

    Have a lovely day everyone:)

I think i am going to do this next month - i am sure i am too late this month - although it would have been a good one cos i messed up my money like mad..

also whats a tesco loaded card?? how do they work?

    Cheers

    Shaz

Hi Shazzer card is called a clubcard plus and sadly they dont do them anymore. It is a card that you can either set up a direct debit to go into monthly (or do as I do and just pay whatever amount you like in at the customer service desk) and then use it for your spends in Mr T. The bonus to it was that you got 2 pts for every pound you spent instead of the normal one pt.

Hi Elf, I think I am with Karom and Cheryl on this one too - but it depends on what you are really trying to achieve with the NSD challenge. For me (we don't have a canteen at work) it encourages me to ensure I make and take lunches to work. It also makes me think twice about popping into Mr T, Mr S etc etc at lunchtime to get the odd this, that or the other (esp as I work in the town centre). If you are loading your tesco card and using it like this, then I would count it as a spendy day, however, if you are loading it with a set amount that is trying to budget/reduce your grocery spend and are only purchasing carefully planned items, then I wouldn't count it as a spend.

I reckon if you feel that to you it would feel like cheating not to count them, then you should keep doing things the way you feel happy to. :)

Thanks Kerri - I thought I was probably doing it the right way but just wanted everyones opinions :D
Just to explain a little better (it came up a couple of times). I started using the cc+ to manage my money better (plus the added benefit of extra points :rotfl:) and top it up once a month when I get paid (occaisionallly this doesnt happen and I top it up over the month if money is really tight). The canteen card is barely used as I do normally take my own food with me but there are occaisions where I have (a) fogotten my lunch or (b) have wanted a cup of soup or toast to warm me up when i have taken something cold. The canteen card is topped up probably once a week/fortnight but our canteen food is heavily subsidised (for example a 6 piece cooked breakfast is 66p and a main meal at lunchtime is something like £1.20) so on the odd occaisions that I do use the card it is for minimal amounts ;)
And I'm agreeing as well, elf06, makes perfect sense to me as well, keep doing what you're doing:D
    x

Well I guess thats all I needed to know :rotfl:. I thought I prob was doing it the 'right' way but its always nice to get others confirming what you thought :D
Glad your back Spoon and that all is well your our littleangel.gif

Well today is a full day at work so fingers crossed it should be another NSD but I will be back this evening to update - hope everyone is well :)

Morning all and happy Friday!! Looks like the windy night has blown all the rain away here. Glad to hear you're OK Spoon - hope you've got a relaxing weekend planned after a hard week?

I've just well and truly blown my planned NSD for today by buying tickets to Wireless festival in Hyde Park next year with my best mates - Pulp are headlining!!! Haven't broken the news to DH yet that I'm going to miss his birthday tho, oops! And its my big brothers wedding tomorrow so that definately won't be a NSD - though I am a bridesmaid so I could blag a few free drinks from my uncles! xx
Trying to jump back onto the moneysaving wagon ....
  • Good morning everyone!

I went out to the shops yesterday and:
    - bought gift wrap from Debenhams, but used the £5 voucher, so didn't part with any cash,
    - bought and installed a new battery for OH's motorbike as the cold weather was taking it's toll and the bike wouldn't start (OH was most unimpressed as had to make like sardines and get the train!). Anyway, OH paid me back straight away on returning home, so I'm counting that as a no spend too ...
... which makes yesterday NSD number 10 and 4 NSDs in a row at my 2nd attempt - woohoo!!
Thank you soooo much for being worried about me. I'm fine, thanks, but just been soooooooo busy at work I've had no time to get on here:(:(:(. I've missed you all:(:(

Glad all is OK Spoon - was starting to get worried that you had been blown away!

    And - even better - today's my last shift until 22nd :T

Here's to a week off work

Kicks off tomorrow with some more stock-taking (toiletries, cleaning and groceries) and an early night, then on Sunday morning I have a 'Children In Need' 10km race. During the week I have some paperwork to deal with, and some companies to contact in an attempt to get monthly payments reduced on utility bills (plus my TV licence to cancel) - plus a load more stock-taking, and (hopefully) a fair bit of decluttering. The week might end up with a 'Help Our Heroes' 5 mile race on 21st (as yet undecided whether to do this one due to location, and depending on how my leg holds up after the 10km on 14th)

So a nice lazy week for me (not) :D

Just nipped in to update my sig.
Just back from MrA - lots of shopping but I came in just a couple of £'s over budget BUT within that I got a box of 36 whoopsied Walkers crisps for £2 and 9 cans of Irn Bru also whoopsied to £1. I never buy this stuff if they're full price, but I thought that was too good to pass up. They're handy for packed lunches;).
I also got a couple of deli pizzas to replace the Sat takeaway this week -I'm fed up with Chinese, so that was £4 instead of the £12 OH usually shells out! :T

Then I went to Mr T and stocked up on my makeup - foundation, eyeliner, four eyeshadows and a lippy - cost me £3 once I used my clubcard points - yay!
I may be skint but I can always be beautiful:rotfl::rotfl:

Very happy - the power of new make up eh?;)

Well done Chris on your challenge:T and good luck Cheryl with your run, enjoy your holiday.

    LATERS:)

  • Hi everyone, happy freezing cold Friday

I'm doing my friday wiggle to keep warm :D

Horrendous high winds last night and most of today, seems to have died down now *fingers crossed*

Today is another NSD, am posting this now so I'm not tempted to get a takeaway later on tonight, we got loads in the freezer now although none of it really appealing which is always the way :(

Hope you all have a fab evening and weekend, stay warm and dry! x
