Number 6 today
Elf06, reading your point; I would say that I agree with the different treatment:
- Card for canteen : Spend day on the day it is loaded. This is a facilities you use possibly every day. Now one can argue that to gain NSD you could bring your lunches to work but your lunches are surely working on a budget (i.e. £15 for the week; same as electricity / water etc... that you use)
-Tesco loaded card: This is very different because when you load it, you do not actually spend it yet; it is a move of the cash. If you load £100 and go there once a week for a £80 spend or 5 times for £20 spend is very different. 5 times for £20 at a time does denote the no meal planning etc...
My thoughts, I think you are doing it the right wayMFW on your mark0 -
Elf06 - I have to say that I'm with Karom on this one as it's for general groceries, although I can see the logic to only counting the grocery card when you load it (as that's a bit like someone else - sorry can't remember who - is doing with their Christmas Savings card/stamps for a supermarket, but this is for a special event so I can also see the logic in treating that one differently)Cheryl0

Hi Elf, I think I am with Karom and Cheryl on this one too - but it depends on what you are really trying to achieve with the NSD challenge. For me (we don't have a canteen at work) it encourages me to ensure I make and take lunches to work. It also makes me think twice about popping into Mr T, Mr S etc etc at lunchtime to get the odd this, that or the other (esp as I work in the town centre). If you are loading your tesco card and using it like this, then I would count it as a spendy day, however, if you are loading it with a set amount that is trying to budget/reduce your grocery spend and are only purchasing carefully planned items, then I wouldn't count it as a spend.
I reckon if you feel that to you it would feel like cheating not to count them, then you should keep doing things the way you feel happy to.
Oh, nearly forgot - NSD #6 Spoony please :j making headway now after a slight slide off the wagon.
Got totally soaked at lunchtime popping into town - and only went in to move some cash because useless Santander's quick transfer didn't work yesterday (according to their customer services today 'it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't - it depends, and should say AFTER the event :mad: however, this isn't stated AT ALL on their wedsite. So I told them something they could clearly record is that I will be moving my banking to First Direct - and have promptly applied for an account there, so well done Santander, another customer down the pan) ...sorry, rant over!Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
