Same to you and your dad Katholicos :grouphug: xx
I'm feeling surprisingly positive today, had a lovely night out with my best mates last night which has cheered me up no end! Plus DH got a nice tax rebate in the post this morning, takes the pressure off for christmas shopping so thats a weight off my mind. I love the fact that we only get nice post now - all thanks to MSE!! xxTrying to jump back onto the moneysaving wagon .... :cool:0 -
Another spend day for me today
Had a look at the food stocktake I've done so far, and spotted that one thing I'm very short of (as in non-existant since I used the last couple a few months back) is tins of veg.
Bearing in mind they keep forecasting snow for us (though it's yet to appear) and I can vividly recall the panic buying at work when we had the heavy falls at the start of the year (which wasn't helped by the major problems we had getting deliveries in the first place), I wanted to be sure I can manage for at least a couple of weeks without the need to buy anything while still being able to eat fairly healthily.
I've plenty of cereal, snack bars, bread flour and dried yeast, dried and UHT milk (the latter being sweetened soya which I like on cereal but not in tea), tea bags (even if I have to resort to herbals - probably should have gone as far as L!dl to get some more of the standard ones now I think of it consider money put aside for me to pick them up tomorrow when I go to F0cus which is next door-but-one), cheese, meat, fish (frozen plus tinned tuna), a few tins of meat (mince & onion / chicken in a cream sauce / corned beef), minced and diced Qu0rn, pies, burgers (both breaded turkey and standard beef varieties), sausages, dried and tinned fruit, pasta, pasta sauce, rice and instant mash, and even some bottled water - but only enough frozen veg for about 6 meals. I wouldn't need any for some meals (batch cooked and frozen bolognese and chilli also appears on my lists), but felt that 6 meals worth was a little on the light side as I'll be using it on a regular basis even if it still doesn't snow this next week
So I've been and picked up a couple of tins of baby potatoes, 4 tins of mixed veg (2 of peas & carrots and 2 of beans, peas, diced carrots & diced turnips, and I reckon I'd get 3 meals from each set of 2 tins if I'm careful), plus 8 smaller tins of sweetcorn with other veg (4 have kidney beans and peppers, the other 4 have carrots, peas and lima beans). So that's two (three at a push) meals of boiled spuds and 14 days of side veg
And I'm fine for all toiletry type items after my recent bulk purchase of loo rolls
Plus I recently spotted my supply of candles (both tall and tea-lights), so should probably dig those out and put them somewhere more accessible
On Thursday morning I put the floor-to-ceiling curtain over my back door (I decided to go ahead with layering, so it's actually two lined curtains on the one rail/set of hooks). Kept trying to convince myself the kitchen couldn't really be feeling any warmer (as the door to hall was still open all the time and I hadn't done the front door), but when I went to let the dog out this morning there was condensation on the double glazed pane in the door - so it's definitely been making a difference.
Got the front door done this afternoon, though I don't have all the curtains up yet. I got two sets for there, but the rails didn't come with as many hooks as I'd like to have so I need to get some more before I can finish hanging them. At the moment I have one set up on the front door, which are layered but not gathered up as much as they should be (so they actually extend to the full length of the rail at the moment anyway, but there's no mid-way gap to - hopefully - make it possible to keep them drawn even when I want to go out). Even half an hour after putting them up I could tell they were helping, as sliding a hand around the curtains was chilling my fingers !!! Curtain hooks are on my shopping list for tomorrow, and the money for this visit to F0cus has been put away today.
Hopefully the hall will retain more heat now, and I won't have to keep cranking up the heating for the dog (who sleeps in there)Cheryl0 -
Good evening NSD gang, hope you are all well. Very wintry in my neck of the woods but I don't care because I am in the warm for a couple of days and don't have to venture out till work on Monday! I have to declare my final NSD total for November will be 9, not as good as I hoped but it's been a tricky month. I will try for a humble 10 in December, though, and try to work back up from there. One life - your life - live it!0

(((((((((big hugs)))))))) 3 dogs, great to hear your mum seems to be improving, but how awful that you have had to fight just to get her basic care, good on you & your family for keeping at it!!
Glad to hear things are looking up for you too Honey
Thanks everyone for all the supportive comments about my interview, waiting a week to hear is killing me, but when i find out i promise you'll all be the first to know!!
Well i can declare number 11 for yesterday, today was spendy as i had to pay the gas man who came to connect the hob (last kitchen job :j), so i got some cheap cards & wrapping paper too... & managed to forget the stamps  have put the money aside today though so i can pick them up without ruining a NSD.
Fairly sure i'll be able to get another tomorrow, planning on staying in & having a mega house cleaning dayFebruary NSD challenge 5/150 -

If I find out you've told someone before me, BDINI, I'll be very upset:D:D. Seriously, keeping my fingers crossed for you, it must be difficult waiting a week, but you'll get through it.
Happy cleaning tomorrow and yay to a finished kitchen :j:j:j

Well goooooooood morning all
I bummed out at L£dl yesterday with the steaks so other than the papers etc I bought for mum (and was promptly re-imbursed) there was no spending so that'll be another NSD and todays only spend should be for my gym class which I dont include in my target so that should be another onein fact I think I will leave my purse at home today and that will ensure that it IS another
. Soooooo that in mind I will declare today as a NSD and I'VE MET MY TARGET OF 15!!!!! Thank goodness for that - I really really didnt think I would. It also means that I had a mini run of 5 NSD's in a row (not that i set myself a target but still quite happy with that
)
Its another very frosty morning here but as the curtains are still closed I havent checked to see if there any actual snow left. DS spent some time yesterday sledging in granny and grandad's garden and no doubt will want to do the same again today :rotfl:
Hope everyone is as well as they can be andto those who need them
Have a good day y'allEmma

Morning everyone!
We've had a couple more inches of snow overnight, it's quite deep now, so I dont think we'll be venturing very far today!
Thankfully I had looked out my thermal long johns ( very attractive, not) and my good walking boots, so I wasnt freezing/sliding about when out with the doglet this morning. He just adores the snow and I love watching him run about daft in it!
Have plenty of grub in so we'll be fine! Freezer surprise dinner today as I need to start clearing some space - think it will be scampi, chips and peas followed by toffee cheesecake and cream. An unusual Sunday dinner I grant you, but enjoyable all the same!
Have a great day everyone:)

Good morning everyone!
It's frrreeeezing in my neck of the woods this morning, -4 C at the mo!!! Looks like I'm going to have to put some logs on the fire - usually an evening ritual, but it's just too cold today!
Anyway, yesterday was NSD number 24 for me! Unfortunately, if I warm up enough, today is a planned spend day with a trip out to do a grocery shop, but I'm hoping that Monday will be one more NSD so that I reach my revised target.
Have a good Sunday everyone, and keep warm!:money: Proud to [STRIKE]be dealing with[/STRIKE] have dealt with my debts! :money:
