Need to get myself a diary for next year though but I'm having problems getting the one I want. I like a slimline 2 week-to-view diary, design doesn't matter. Anyone any ideas?/QUOTE]I always find our local pound shopshave a good range of diaries.

Trying to restrict my time on the 'puter, as it causes hours to disappear!! Anyway, caught up now.

Declaring yesterday as NSD no 15...got 4 NSDs in a row, a first for me! :j

Managed to spend quite a bit today without going anywhere!! :o Had a Mr T delivery tonight...with DH and DS2 helping, we got it all in and tidied away within 20 mins...really impressed, and there was loads of stuff! Also got a few things for DH, DS2 and myself for Xmas online this evening...nearly finished my Xmas shopping!!!

Right, must get off and finish mounting and framing a cross-stitch picture for my Sis IL in Canada...will now post it on Monday, hope it gets there on time.

This weekend should be spend-free...here's hoping!

Have a great weekend everyone...wrap up warm!!!

Argh, just lost my post. Number 12 for me.

Nick Clegg is on the news; he looks a broken man. He looks as though he may have been crying! I wonder if he's hoping his party will abstain en masse on changing tuition fees!

Keiss, I know just what you mean about computer's stealing time from you! My laptop does that to me all the time! ;)

    Hi all,

Just checking in to let you know my S.Dad came out of hospital yesterday and he's doing really well. Big relief for our family. Thank you for the kind words/thoughts and sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.

I have comletely lost where I am with NSD's and I'm so far behind with the thread so I'm not going to try and catch up. I'll rejoin for December though (although it'll be a toughie!)

Hope you guys are all ok and lots of NSD's have been clocking up! I'm going to have a peek at the front page and see how you're all getting on.

    honey x

Brilliant news, honey, really pleased to hear it. I've been thinking about you and keeping my fingers crossed everything would be OK. Thanks for popping on to let us know, I think all of us appreciate the update when you've doubtless got much better things to do.

Hugs to you and your family and look forward to seeing you back here soon.

Agree, nicca, I think he may be slightly regretting his decision:(

Where do you think all this time computers steal actually goes. Is there a big time bank somewhere?? :D:D

Hello everyone from stranger 3Dogs - I haven't been back on the thread since I had to come up North when my Mam was taken into hospital, so here's an update on Mam, and then my NSD's:

Mam - she was taken into hospital on 19th October after my brother, her 24/7 carer, found her lying over the bed having been vomitting blood (what they call coffee grounds). They decided that, being 91 and frail, she was too weak for any investigation. After 4 days of Nil By Mouth, and lots of nagging from family, they eventually put her on a saline drip. A unrinary infection, then a chest infection followed by a possible bowel infection, and 3 courses of antiboitics later, they decided to try her on a food tube down her nose, which she had on for about 6 hours before either she pulled it out or it came out when she was moving about. They then decided that the tube was not going to work, so asked our permission to 'comfort feed' her (soft food as and when she wanted it) which we agreed to as we knew she could eat OK as we had been secretly feeding her soup and yoghurt-type puds for a few days by then, with no after effects. We were then told that she was to be referred to a care home for 'continuing care' as she was too unwell to go home and needed 24 hour nursing care. When we was transferred a few days later, we found out from the carers that this was actually the 'end of life' unit, funded by the Primary Care Trust (hospital). After 4 days of not treating her underlying asthma, which she has had all her life since having TB as a child, they eventually agreed to give her a ventolin nebuliser 4 times a day and within 24 hours her chest was getting better

During all this time we have had to fight every step of the way for the correct treatment for her as well as basic care. We feel that the hospital is in fact responsible for her current state by not giving her the necessary fluids, etc at the right time. So now, after 3 weeks in hospital and over 2 weeks in the care home, she is getting back to some form of health. In the last few days she has begun talking and laughing, being responsive, etc but now can't drink without choking (risk of aspiration and then pneumonia), eat other than a few spoonfuls of pureed food and ice cream/desserts, in dual incontinent, and can't stand let alone walk - in fact they will not allow her even to get her out of her bed into a chair

We have been told that she is too fragile for exploration of her stomach problem which caused the coffee-ground vomit, and, even if they found out what was wrong, which they hint may be stomach cancer, they would not treat her for it due to her 'nearing the end of her life'

So I have been up here in North Tyneside since 23rd October and, especially with the deep snow we have at the moment, no immediate plans to get back home. Mr 3Dogs is coping on his own back home, though he hates being on his own. He has put weight back on with eating the wrong foods and drinking beer again, but has started to get that off again, slowly

And now on to NSD's - I have continued to count my NSD's - it seemed to keep some sort of order in my life at times!! I did report back via SW/Tixy that I had reached my initial target of 17 for last month October, but did in fact reach my revised target of 20 - so, I don't remember what the prizes were for October, but I got 20/[STRIKE]17[/STRIKE] 20 NSD's for October

For the current month of |November, I was not sure how I would do, so set myself a target of 15, and in fact I reached that on 22nd November, so upped my target to my normal 17, which I reached on 24th November. I then revised my target to 20 and as of today I am on 18 NSD's

So, now I am back up to date so I should be able to report in as I go. It was difficult at first as, due to faulty dongle problems, I did not have internet access for the first 2 weeks

Sorry for the extra long post but I have been away for 5 weeks tomorrow and that is a lot of NSD's and news to catch up on :D I don't have time to read up on what has been happening to everyone so can only hope that everyone is well and doing great with their NSD's. If you're not then (((hugs))) from me

((hugs)) for 3Dogs and family - but especially for your Mum

It sounds like she (and the rest of you) have really been put through the wringer in the last 5 weeks - and whilst I'm not one to 'point a finger' at our NHS, I'd be seriously tempted to file an official complaint about her treatment (both initially, and then the failure to treat her asthma especially as it's clearly a know condition)

Oh my word 3Dogs, big hugs to you, your Mum and your family.

It is so, so wrong that you have to fight for basic care and treatment for your Mum. I echo what cw18 said about filing a complaint.

    ((HUGS)), take care xx
