Hmmm....my house pet (cat) has never ventured on to the worksurface (she's too lazy) but I would tend to agree with those who say that as long as it's been cut off/ heated thoroughly, it will be fine.

My non house pets (chickens) fertilise my veggie patch regularly and I wouldn't think twice of eating the veg, in fact I, and many other gardeners, welcome chicken poo on our crops..:whistle:;)

I would eat it without a second thought.

Your cat must lick itself, you stroke it... I am sure you have ingested cat saliva some way or another previously.

That happened to me the other day but with a slow cooked roast chicken, someone didn't close the kitchen door, and suicidal cat will eat anything and had a good chomp on bits of it, I just gouged those bits out best I could, and shot it back in the slow cooker for a few more hours.

I tend to keep my kitchen door closed, and they deffo do not get in there when im out the house as suicidal cat, goes into cupboards and eats potatoes/dried lentils/anything.

If i catch them in there I shout "OOOGABOOOOOGA" and they run off.

My daughter got told by the vet that a cat's tongue is antiseptic and will clean anything it touches. Not a dog, just cats. She said you will never catch anything off a cats tongue. :)

I wouldn't, the thought makes me feel sick. We've 2 cats and I tell everyone to make sure the kitchen door is closed when they leave, even then worktops are disinfected down just incase. The amount of time our cats spend cleaning their bits I'd dread to think of the amount of germs they'd pass on.

I'd just give them the lamb and not feed them the next day:D

  • With the price of lamb as it is, I'm b*ggered if I'd throw it away.

Worse still, have you seen what those hens eat and then we eat their eggs . Mine are true free range, they fight over the cats leftovers - dead shrews etc - and they don't waste any protein the dogs leave so you have to follow the dogs round the garden with a spade. Truely repulsive sometimes.

I wouldn't eat the meat, but that is just me.
