    I've been Money Tipped!
Cats lick all sorts of things including their bums - so no, I wouldn't eat it.

i once saw a cat with bits of tapeworm hanging out of its back end and then he licked his back end. So no way not in a million years. I would rather eat bread and jam for my meal than cat-licked food

people do have different standards of cleanliness. We had pets but they never ever walked on kitchen surfaces or ate from anything other than their own dishes

OK, so now I actually cant show DH this thread as evidence that he should eat it....

My cat is however fully wormed last week so there is no danger of this.........

  • :) I'd cut the licked bits off, wash it, cook it and scoff it!

I'd cook it make sure OH got the licked bit :D

i have 6 cats and it is more than their life is worth to even think about jumping on the work surfaces I prepare food on.. they know exactly where they should and hould not be and respond very well to 'get down' wherever they are.. usually in my seat!

To catch tape worm you have to eat the flesh containing the eggs which are contained in the sections of worm. They are passed on most prolifically by pig flesh.. so you couldn't actually catch tapeworm from your cat.. you would have to eat something that had eaten the sections of egg filled tapeworm from said cat.. which is unlikely..

Anyway.. yes I would eat it without a second thought.. OH just ate a chicken drumstick the cat had nibbled.. though.. he has been a while in the loo.. I'll go make sure he isn't dead!

And next time.. cool the meat in the oven or microwave!

  • i find this quite funny reading all the different opinions :p

i have a cat, but wouldnt eat anything he had licked. dont know why but it just makes me a bit squemish, however im happy to have him sleep on my bed and be snuggled up next to me, although i do shift him when he puts his bum in my face.

i learnt the hard way about leaving food out on the surface as he will eat anything and everything thats left out, even left over chinese in the metal containers are not safe on the side.

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest...

Gross I might be but my cat likes to share little treats with me altho give him the middle of a creme egg and its a gonner.
Tho my cat also shares my bed so is fine by me.

In fact.. you are more likely to be ill if you had found your hubby licking it than your cat..!

Yep, I would eat it - after giving it a quick wash!
