Lovely large joint of lamb. £20 worth. Had it as a roast last night and I was planning to eat it cooked again as a caserole slow cooked for 3 hours today. Lovely "Economy Gastronomy" recipe. DH wont eat it. I'm happy to eat it if its been effectively boiled and then simmered for hours. As long as I get three posts saying go for it then i'll eat it.....
Would you eat it?

When did the cat lick it? Was it when raw (I'd eat it once cooked); after last night's roast? (I'd probably eat it after a long slow casserole cook); when ready to serve (sorry, no thanks). I don't have any pets and hate the idea of them licking my face, but having said that plenty of people do let them lick their faces and mouths and a good cooking would kill any germs so if you can stomach the idea of the cat having had a go at your food beforehand then enjoy!
It's only a game

It licked it after it had been cooked as a roast and left out on the side to cool. Foul animal. Still, i'm not throwing out that much meat. Its 1/5 of my food budget for the month!!:A0 -
Absolutely go for it, if you really need to, cut off any licked pieces first but casseroling it will kill anything anyway.0

Lamb and cat spittle - no thanks _pale_ This is why I would never ever have house pets
can you be sure that the cat has not licked any of your other food or surfaces, and is it putting its dirty paws and bottom on the places where you prepare food?

Since it has already been cooked, i would give it a thorough wash under the cold water tap prior to reheating it equally thoroughly. I wouldn;t waste it though :-)Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

That makes me a mucky beggar as well then - I'd wash, reheat and scoff without a second thought. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
If it's going to be reheated it'll be ok, tell your DH you've cut the licked bit offI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.
