Cat has licked our food, would you eat it?

We are veggie here so the dog doesn't get a lot of leftovers but if she has one of our plates I just wash it, I don 't see the harm in that. I won't let her lick me though if I can help it!
Glad to see you're still alive jennie. How did you persuade OH?It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
Yes of course I would eat it - I don't see a problem at all.
I have cats and they never go on the worktops when I am there but I am sure they do when I am not around. There is no door on the kitchen and one could not be fitted as the kitchen is too small. I clean the worktops a couple of times a day and use boards so it does not really worry me.
I think people are too worried about germs. I am sure some of the items we touch every day are far worse and if you absent mindedly put your fingers in or near your mouth you are taking those germs in.The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
I'm another one of the "wash it off and cook it well" brigade. Once it has been subjected to heat, any bugs should be "toast".
We have four very large (Maine Coon) indoor cats and the two youngest are appalling thieves. Thus, nothing is left out and the counter tops are cleaned with Byotrol, as are the cutting boards, before food prep takes place. Our 12 and 14 year old cats can't be bothered to jump up, they prefer "Waiter Service", but Paddy and Hobbes are 8 months and 17 months respectively and are finally learning what "Gerroffthecounter" means.
We did have a Maine Coon boy a few years back who hopped onto the dining table (when everyone had gone into the living room for coffee) and dragged the remains of a Raspberry Pavlova into the hallway where he was discovered with his blissful little face covered in meringue/cream/raspberries. Perfect poster cat for " Nom nom, it are my birthday!"No, we DIDN'T eat the remains (too mushed up LOL) and neither did he!
I've got deep wall units over my base units. The units are 60cm deep & the base units are 38cm deep, plus they are the superhigh ones & my ceilings could do with being a bit higher & I feel that the gap between the worktop & the bottom of the wall unit could be another 2/3 inches.
I guess if you are a cat looking up from the floor the depth of the unit about & the closeness of it to the worktop must make it a bit off putting. Funny they love my bedroom & DDs bedroom windows (rads under) but never try the bathroom, kitchen or living room windows.0 -

I live with 3 cats and 3 dogs, all are healthy and see the vet at least once a year so I would for sure just wash the meat off and cook it again. I am sure in my life I have done worse and it has not hurt my health ( I remember a tale about me sharing my ice cream with our dog when I was a very small child)
When I was young (more years ago then I care to remember) my social worker did a home visit and my Dad had fed the dog some left overs from a plate, he picked the plate up and put it back in the cupboard telling said social worker that " it saved on the washing up"...It was a wonder I was not put into care.
He was joking of courseThere is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

Definitely eat it. If you feel yourself getting over anxious, just remember how many thousands of years homosapiens has been on the planet for. We discovered germs relatively recently."A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."
I still am Puddleglum - phew!0
