We probably discussed it on here three years ago too. Only then Poppycod was called Dervish.0 -
This country's aim shoudl be to do the same so that we dont need any immigrants at all ever.
All vias for work should be temporary and NO immigrants must ever be allowed to stay, unless they renew for another fixed term.
And so international marriage is banned. And of course if immigrants cant come here, presumably British people cant move overseas.
We just build a wall round the country and everything is wonderful.
Sorry, whether you like it or not we now live in a global economy. The financial forces from that will ensure that either a nation integrates internationally or is destined to become an impoverished but amusing historical side-show.0 -
UK PLC needs the (skilled) immigration (flexible workforce) now more then ever - hence you're seeing anti-immigration Cameroon changing his stance (now that he's won the elections).
Consider this, what I think would be a typical scenario should the UK decide to close the door:
HSBC needs the staff for a new department, but can't find suitable candidates in the UK. They could hire semi-suitable candidates and spend ££ and months/years training them or they could try to pouch staff from competitors (and pay them over the odds, causing wages to spiral upwards).
Or, HSBC could simply decide that the cost of keeping the department in the UK outweighs the benefits and simply outsource the operation to say Poland (resulting in further UK job loss, but also in hurting UK economy as these staff would spend their money and pay tax in Poland - not UK).
In short - immigration is what keeps this country running.
On the other hand, domicile population should be introduced to reality and trained to fend for themselves. Nothing motivates a person better then when the reality bites.0 -

I'm a bit surprised to see the "them and us" mentality is still so rife after all these years.
Poppycod, no matter how desperately you try to justify them, your viewpoints are simply racist.
How would banning doctors from Botswana help the people of Botswana at all? In reality, most of them wouldn't even train to be doctors if they didn't know they'd be able to use their skills and qualifications abroad.
And immigrants aren't the reason for high levels of unemployment. There are plenty of jobs out there, it's just that they're all crap. British people don't want to do them. And then there are all those people who are just not equipped for the world of work because they haven't been raised properly. The long-term unemployed. People with personality disorders and depression and low self-esteem, people with absolutely no motivation, no goals. It's not the immigrants' fault that these people haven't been raised properly.
Basically, you're completely ridiculous, and I'm quite ashamed of myself for taking time out of my day to put you in your place.poppycod wrote:British people will never be turned away as they will enhance where they go.
The same cannot be said for immigrants coming here who plague and leech our country.
This is just out-and-out racism, and should really be reported.0 -
Sadly as things get tougher I fear that racial attacks will become more prevalent.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I am quite content being known as the MSE "Racist" , simply because it has been so misused over the years, I am not even sure what it means any more !0
