Has Voxalot dumped their forced voicemail yet?

I've no idea, something I didn't think of.

Just checked and it does indeed have voicemail activated with no option to turn it off. :/ Reading their forums it seems they are planning an option to disable it ("soon" - but that was a post made 5 months ago).

Thankfully it is set to 30seconds so doesn't affect me - if I've not answered within 10-15secs everyone knows I'm not going to. But I can see how annoying it would be otherwise, and I'd definitely stop using voxalot as you did.

Ken, just to clarify, I can only use one provider at a time on the Netgear, does this mean that if I put in my sipgate details and Viopcheap details into voxalot and reconfigure my router to logon to voxalot, it will mean that anyone that calls my sipgate number will automatically be put through to my voxalot account and my phone will ring and conversely if I ring out voxalot will use voipcheap as the outgoing provider???

If I have got that right then that is really impressive
Sign up at Voxalot. Input your sipgate details, then input any other provider you wish to use too. Set whichever provider for outgoing calls. Reconfigure your router to voxalot details. Now you can have all incoming calls go through sipgate, and on the same telephone make outgoing calls from any other provider (or providers - eg dial * before a call and you go through voipdiscoint, dial 9 before a call and go through someone else, etc etc. or have 0845 calls routed to one provider, 01/02 through another etc - That way you can use whichever provider has the cheapest call costs for each individual call rather than relying on the "average" cheapest).

    That is correct, yes.

I have mine setup for incoming calls from sipgate and outgoing calls via voipdiscount (just their 1min free trial calls, as all my calls are just to tell people I'm on my way/I'm late/etc).

You could set it up so that you have 5 or 6 different outgoing providers - so that different types of number (01/02, 0845, mobile, etc) are routed to the cheapest provider. But at its most basic it will do exactly as you (and I) require.

Which ATA/voice adaptor are you using?

I've just registered successfully to voxalot but my Netgear TA612V does not want to log on to their servers?!!

    I'm using a SpeedTouch 780 router.

I've never used that adapter so can't help you, sorry. They do have a forum that you could check for help.

    Hope you get it sorted.

Just managed to pick up Netgear TA612V from Staples in Chadwell Heath @ £9.91. Not being the greedy type, ;-) I can confirm there were at least a couple there together with the vonage type broadband router. I got one of those as well for good measure, a bit over indulgent ...or is it greed. Still there was some stock left so if anyone is interested.

Fantastic Ken. I am going to get the Skype 6months free 01/02 calls offer http://www.skype.com/campaigns/talkforbritain/ and get sipgate for incoming and see if I can get everything to work via voxalot! This means 6 months free outgoing calls and I won't have to pay for the rip off SkypeIn incoming number!

That Voxalot looks pretty promising, going to look into that.

Just need to find a half decent ATA for my router, seen a couple of adaptors that look like they might do the job. Not Linksys/Netgear ones though :( (Can't find either of those for less than £50 and that's too much)

I just got an email off a Russian lady telling me Skype does not do SIP calls so I can't use my Netgear TA612V hmmmm..... not too sure if she truly understood my question. Is there anyone using the Netgear TA612V with Skype??? If not, mine may be up for sale Kilty!

Skype is a town town service. It is not compatible with real VoIP systems (SIP devices).

Skype is OK for kids to play with, though expensive compared to real VoIP services, as you have to pay for an incoming number, pay for voicemail and pay some of the highest prices for dialling standard phones.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
