On your point above - sure, but most of us have the maturity to realise that it is better to keep such opinions to opurselves especially on a public forum where we are all meant to help each other.
I've been on the internet since 1993 and l've come across countless boors, zealots and morons. Some people post simply to offend others and its impossible to avoid them or weed them out before they cause offence. The only effective way to deal with such people is to ignore them. No response, no audience, no reason to stay. Mods get to do their thing.

Most people don't self censor and many offensive posters are actually adolescents.

Saeed you made a good point and immediately negated it. Lets go with your original point and try to keep this on topic.

  • Hi

Just about to set up netgear voip adaptor and need some serious help!
I have a BT landline and currently have belkin wireless network set-up...

Is there any advantage to setting up the voip adapter as per netgear manual?
    OR
Any advantage to setting it up 'behind' my current wireless router?
If so, how do i go about doing that?

Will i be able to set up voip adapter to use voipcheap.com???

VoIP Cheap allows SIP, so yes you will be able to set up VoIPCheap with that:

    http://www.voipcheap.com/en/sip.html
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)
  • the netgear adapter routinely uses sipgate and think it needs 'unlocking'.

Any idea about set-up? i.e. should i set up as per the netgear manual. i.e. take ethernet cable out from computer and connect to internet port on voip adapter (other end is in wireless router), then connect LAN port of voip adapter to ethernet port of computer

Or is it better to set up behind my existing belkin wireless router?
    if better, why?
    and how to do that?

Sipgate have the unlocked Firmware on their site.

As for setting up, I've not used this device before.

  • Hi
Having some major problems with my voip adaptor set-up. I bought a Netgear TA612V, unlocked it and it is now setup to use voipcheap.

I can make calls ok to start off with but after a very short time the green (working) LED on the voip adaptor starts to flash orange (trying to register). I am then unable to make calls until i reboot the Netgear, then everything is fine again for a short period (less than half an hour) and so on....

Anybody else had similar problems with continual de-registering from voipcheap? Anybody know a solution?

PS i'm using a belkin adsl wireless router/modem

Got exactly the same thing. Light is mostly blinking orange. Very annoying, not sure if it is voipcheap ot the ta612v, but I suspect the authentication protocole of voipcheap / betamax
