Got exactly the same thing. Light is mostly blinking orange. Very annoying, not sure if it is voipcheap ot the ta612v, but I suspect the authentication protocole of voipcheap / betamax

it is SO annoying! It may be a common problem with betamax, i tried with voipbuster and same problem.

Have tried various changes of setting but no luck!
Reboot seems to sort the problem temporarily to make 1 call or so but this is far from ideal as it means costant rebooting!!!

PS can you tell me what adsl/router your using? thought it may be problem with my belkin??

I have a Linksys PAP2 ATA and is used with VoIPStunt, and have not had any problems, have used VoIPCheap, VoIPBuster and SIPDiscount too without problem.

Just put the phone down on a 55 minute call, all still working, called my VoIPStunt number and rings out OK too.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

    Hi
Having some major problems with my voip adaptor set-up. I bought a Netgear TA612V, unlocked it and it is now setup to use voipcheap.

I can make calls ok to start off with but after a very short time the green (working) LED on the voip adaptor starts to flash orange (trying to register). I am then unable to make calls until i reboot the Netgear, then everything is fine again for a short period (less than half an hour) and so on....

Anybody else had similar problems with continual de-registering from voipcheap? Anybody know a solution?

PS i'm using a belkin adsl wireless router/modem

Like bextech I haven't set this up yet either but as you're presumably using this behind the Belkin have you forwarded the ports the Netgear is using on the Belkin and does the Belkin have any QoS settings (often listed in the gaming area of the router firmware) if so enable them and that should help. Good luck.

There's another Grabbit thread entitled "What's left in Staples £xx.91 Clearance" might be eorth posting the question there too as many have the Netgear.
  • I have no problems making calls once the thing registers correctly but it seems to de-register very very frequently and then get stuck on registering such that only a reboot will work.

I tried changing the register expire time to 60seconds as suggested by another forum but to no avail....

Not sure if i did set it up 'behind' belkin. Set it up according to netgear instructions (apart from unlocking it!).

Current set up is belkin>netgear>computer and then a couple of other wireless computers..

I don't have any problems like you describe, but then I don't have the same device.

If the Belkin is the router connected to the internet and the Netgear is connected to it then it's behind the Belkin. You'll need to forward ports as I said above. For instructions on how to do that for the Belkin look here for your model

    http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm
  • when you set up did you have to open any ports on your router to allow the PAP2 ATA to work properly? Or change any settings in firewall?

Have read somehwere that may be problem with belkin router. Belkin even issued a firmware upgrade for similar reason- tried that but still doesnt work

I'm using VoIPStunt, have the proxy set to sip1.sipdiscount.com nothing in outbound proxy, have Register Expires: 900, Proxy Fallback Intvl: 1800

NAT Mapping Enable: YES and NAT Keep Alive Enable: YES

    Handle VIA received: yes
    Handle VIA rport: yes
    Insert VIA received: yes
    Insert VIA rport: yes
    Substitute VIA Addr: yes
Send Resp To Src Port: yes
    STUN Enable: yes
    STUN Test Enable: yes
STUN Server: stun.voipstunt.com (Any can be used).

    NAT Keep Alive Intvl: 15

These are PAP2 settings, not sure if similar are available on your device.

I've not had problems whether ports are forwarded or not. (99% of the time ports aren't forwarded, only forward them when testing some setups - very rarely).
