Hmm, listed a few things yesterday and have noticed that at least five aren't showing in my open listings (inside my account) - I've checked my closed listings and they aren't there either
however I can follow the link I was sent when I listed the item and its there, but when I click my name and choose view sellers open listings, it says I have no open listings?!

i have taken the plunge and am now a pro merchant

i had decided i would look into when i got home from work , only to find i had sold 2 book :j that gave me the push , before i had even got the conformation email from amazon , i sold another book :j

now i hope you seasoned pro merchant are ready for all the questions i am going to have , on things like inventory uploads , multiple items and zshops :o as i am sure when i read through the jargon again, it will still all seem like double dutch to me

i also think it is about time i got myself an amazon member number , can somebody tell me what the next available number is , thanks

  • hiya, newbie to the amazon thread here, had nowt to do last night so decided to list a few books that i've never bothered reading since it doesn't cost anything. wasn't really expecting to sell them, but was emailed by amazon to say that 2 of the 3 books i listed have sold! :j

I'm amazed! there were even cheaper ones available too! had to hunt the house for jiffy bags to post them in though, think i'll stockpile a few delivery materials before listing any more :D

I can't see what's wrong with a jiffy bag for a standard book. At the end of the day most of us are just clearing out our bookshelves, we're not professional booksellers.

I think some people are predisposed to moan and put peoples' backs up. We probably just have to expect to come across them from time to time.

After some success on Ebay I have just sold my first book on Amazon. Am I allowed to become a member?

Hi there Jo D :hello: welcome to the board and the club, well done on your first sale, first of many I hope! you're number 65
  • Hi Dawn - there are a few new Pro Merchants this week, well done on taking the plunge! you're number 66

wishiwasarichgirl (don't we all) :hello: - it's surprising how quickly you can make your first sale, I know that some people take a day or two to get there but it will happen eventually. I remember that my first sale was within an hour, this just knocked my socks off!

I have decided to start sending my customers an email saying thanks for purchase, item will be sent .... Does anyone else do this ??

Is it effective and should I also add confirmation about condition of book to highlight anything they may have missed ???

Yes I always send an email saying thanks and that is ready for dispatch, when it will be posted and whether I've upgraded to first class post for them ( no extra charge). I also now c&p the condition of the book to them in case they havent read it after reading some of the posts here!

I use the Amazon system to send a shipping note to say book has been sent etc and telling them the postal method used. If I think a book needs it, or there is somehting strange in the description then I also cut and paste that and add it to the end of the note. Mind you that didn't stop my buyer who returned a PS2 game before Christmas as despite buying a 'good' example she apparently thought it ought to have been brand new despite the slight damage to the box being mentioned in the description and the age of the game.

Can I also please remid people to do a check every now and then on their books. I just sold one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_/202-7295148-0419839?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Thor+Heyerdahl+and+the+%22Kon-Tiki%22+Voyage+%28Great+20th+Century+Expeditions...&Go.x=13&Go.y=10 for £2.25 as I hadn't spotted tha all the cheap ones were going fast! When I listed I did undercut the others a little as my copy was only 'good' but I think I could have got more.
