the book is only £1.75 and is listed for postage to uk , so still not sure what to do , the email contained the buyers email addy and a different email addy in the message ? and why would they want to buy it for a customer
sorry for all the question but i dont want to be conned
thanks
Hi Dawn
Well, as it's only £1.75 you won't lose much by not going through with the sale.
This could all be genuine though, I have bought books for buyers from other sellers and have on one occasion asked a seller if they would consider changing their listing from UK only to Worldwide. I explained that they would actually make more profit because of the additional postage fee as it was only a small paperback.
So, you could email the buyer and explain that you will only sell through Amazon but that you will change the listing to Worldwide so that they can buy it for their customer. But, do check the weight of your book first to make sure that you do not lose out on the postage - my own cut off weight is about 600g where the cost of airmail exceeds the postage credit.

teapot2 wrote:Maybe they are one of those 'out of print' or 'hard to find' booksellers? Could they also have listed a book they don't actually have? I keep reading about some sellers who do that... Is it an older or out of print book? Not sure what to suggest as you say its not an expensive item but if you are unsure or have a gut feeling just email back saying you are not able to sell outside of Amazon because of receiving payments. One scam that does happen a lot is that the scammer overpays massively & asks for the extra amount to be repaid by you which you then subsequently lose.... If you're not keen its only £1.75, I'd not bother

Or they could be a seller like me who occasionally sells on GM and forgets to delist from Amazon, or simply just cannot find a book.

Sold something today on marketplace and have not had an email to say SOLD. But its in my closed items and there is a buyers name and address under "manage your orders". the money is listed in my payments account bit of the sight.
So all okay? i've had issues today with things going into the "your sale remains pending"bit (is this when someone puts in their basket and then doesn't checkout after 30 mins?)
cheers

Congratulations on your sale!
If the details are in the 'manage your orders' section then the item is sold and paid for and you need to send it. This is the more reliable area to check for sales. Emails don't always get through.
Well done!

its an expensive item so i was abit concerned. before i don;t think i have tracked the time from sale to getting an email, i just got the email and didn't think much about it.
Silly really as if they had emailed when it sold, i could have posted today, as it is, it will be tomorrow now.
and Lol, just got the sold email 4 hours later for an item that was bought and then the buyer emailed to say GOD IT WAS A MISTAKE PLEASE CANCEL. they are slow today to send emails.0 -

Amazon most probably did send the email when the sale was completed, the delay is with your ISP or somewhere in between.0 -
well emails are now coming through, odd as all my other emails are fine.
DO amazon care about abusive emails sent through their "contact the seller" thing. have had 2 today.0 -

Well, my challenge was to sell 10 books for the month - not a lot I know but only have 150 listed. Didn't quite make it but sold 8 though so am chuffed, that's my second best month and way better than some months
It also spurred me on to list some 1p books and those not eligible for Amazon on Greenmetropolis so have got 50+ listed there too. Am not expecting them to go quickly but did sell one already.
Wanted to thank everyone for their advice and encouragement, I've been listing since the end of April and still enjoy looking for books to sell when i have time. I worked out that the books I've sold have gone for an average of £9.51 before fees and psotage which is pretty good. :j I've put the cash towards paying off credit cards and then from now on will be for overpaying the mortgage :j :j
Thanks also for the generosity of those who list on the 'books that sold for good prices thread' as that's been very useful for ideas of what to look out for - much appreciated

I want a bit of advice from you seasoned pro about posting out around christmas time when the post will go abit slower.
Do you continue to sell or put them on hold? Does Amazon take into ac the festive season - do I have to prewarn buyers that delivery is not guaranteed.
Any advice would be fab
