HI,
I had over a 1000 in the end with lots and lots of tat ( free with magazines and bible books) , a lot were damaged and most that Ive checked are 1p books. However ive had a couple of gems and with the half that Ive checked if they all sell ( !!) i calculate about £50 profit. I didnt bother listing a lot of them at the moment.
The seller I got them from was advertising £50 postage and if i had paid that I would been gutted !!
I dont regret my buy and would say give it a go !

See what you mean about the postage - unfortunately I don't live anywhere near most of the sellers that advertise on ebay so think it might be a bit of a non-starter for me. By the time courier or postage is added on it wouldn't be worth it. Ta for the info and good luck with selling them

Do you have any auction houses near you? you can often get very good mixed lots0 -
I got a small selection of books from ebay, I think my OH would move out if I bought 1000 books....but the small lot I got I made a reasonable profit on, most of them were books I wanted to read which was great as I bought them, listed them and read them whilst I waited for them to sell. Which is what I do with all my books now that I don't want to keep, is buy, list then read!0

I did look into that a while ago there are ocassional auctions in a nearby town but they didn't sell books. Am in quite a rural area of Scotland so bit sparse on the auction front0 -

Hmm ... I suspect that if someone is reported then their listings are taken down - I don't think Amazon actually check anything out.
The reason I'm guessing this is because the time they took my listing down I only had a single listing.

This is just a quick post to moan about how slooooooooooow sales have been. I'm hoping a small moanette will mean I get at least one sale today.
Thanks for your time!0 -

I see, it might be worth asking the auctioneers to contact you if they ever get books to sell, it would be in their interest to make sure that they have a buyer in the room, if they are general auctioneers (not fine art) they will sell whatever comes their way so in an estate sale the family may want them to take everything away to sell and books maybe on the van.
Failing that it's school and church Christmas fair season soon so you might be able to pick up a few armsfull there0 -
