But sometimes (like when it's very cold) I wear 13 things at once.

I'm always keeping stuff because 'I won't be this size for much longer, then I'll be able to wear it' :)

Keep eating those (frugal) pies Lesley. Good luck !

  • I have a whole bag, mostly of things I love, like that Lesley :'(. LOL at Susan wearing 13 things (not socks :-) ).

    Clothes!
I am terrible for hording clothes. Since moving I have realised that I still have far too many clothes. I cannot even get to a lot of them, and have been living in the same old jeans, t shirts, strappy tops, and jumpers for weeks now. So much so that on Monday when I put a pair of pinstriped trousers on, DGD asked what they were? OOps.
Definitely time for me to par down my wardrobe. Where to begin is actually being able to get to it!

Wheezl, I am amazed that your challenge was for £40 in January for groceries! I struggle to follow my menu planning and shopping now that I am unwell. I should have more time, but alas have less energy to do things. Really have let things slip, and now I have only a very small part of a fridge freezer I find it difficult to stockpile things.!
Your inspiration got me through a rough time last year. I really must pick it up again, and get our budget back on track. The wasteage is terrible. I am not very proud of myself at the moment.
I have far too many ideas in my head, and no follow through!.
I shall try and carry on reading, getting ideas and inspiration, and hope to be well enough to put all the knowledge back into practise.

Hugs to the boys. Got to see my two grandsons today. Its always a bitter sweet moment. They are well, and happy. All a granny can ask in the circumstances.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

I will prob have to go and buy a few things this week ie UHT milk and some juice but will try to keep spends to a minimum. Have some microwave tablet setting at the moment so hopefully something yummy to have with a cuppa later on

Had my father over today, he and OH were laying some new flooring so I defrosted some of the cfr chilli and bean curry (for me) from the freezer- they absolutely LOVED the chilli and I thought the bean curry was delish.
As I had fed them Delia's bownies last week, I thought I'd pit them against the cfr ones- cfr win 2-1 and I think might have wiped the floor with Delia's but for me over cooking them (what is it with me and burnt offerings?).
The freezer is FINALLY showing signs of being emptied so I think I might finally have a go at that (practically diet) lemon cheesecake! :D
It will be ok in slices in the freezer won't it?

I am very bad at sticking to the store cupboard. The whoopsies are too tempting!! This week I got nearly 750g TTD line caught cod for under £4, a fresh tuna steak for 60p & 200g of parmigiano reggiano for 99p.

The last couple of days have been OK, with HM bolognaise from the freezer yesterday & HM pork sweet & sour from the freezer today (previously made from organic pork steak whoopsied down to an incredible 75p).

The whoopsied fish in the freezer is getting out of hand, with about 5 ½ kilos of the stuff in there! I am off work from next Tuesday (:hello: Weezl, send me a 'to do list! :)) so I will do some batch cooking. The fishy batch cook plan currently looks like:

    Fresh tuna ‘meat’ balls
    Fresh tuna Provencale
    Scandinavian fish stew (cod)
Greek fish stew (sea bass & trout) (the above 4 are JO recipes)
Fish pie (lemon sole & smoked haddock)

My sister bought me Gino’s pasta for my birthday (she said she didn’t know which cookbook to buy, so went with what she fancied on the cover!:p) And there is a recipe in there for baked smoked salmon pasta, so will probably do that too. Will still have about 2kg of fish left!

The shopping to get the ingredients to complete all of the above is coming in at £6.63 in MrT, though I’ll check out L!dl first (it only opened here last year, so still ‘discovering’ it). Which includes a cheap bottle of white wine!

Also in Gino’s book is a pasta bake that is basically a pasta bolognaise, layer of that then a layer of mozzarella, another layer of the pasta & meat and topped with parmesan. So am thinking of trying that too (will just need the mozzarella).

ETA nothing against the CFR salmon pasta, just I would have to buy cream & the baked one is a white sauce, so already have everything in!

I made the salmon pasta last night... but instead of cream and water, I used all semi skimmed milk... as I too didnt have any cream in :o... and it was still very lovely :D
