I love fish pie, it is the yummiest comfort food. A hug on a plate
that link though -I just can't compute potatoes AND pasta
I thought that too at first but have come around to the idea now - not that much different to having lasagne with chips (Im trying to convince myself ):happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
hello
please try it and let us know
I am thinking of a frugalised this: http://www.waitrose.com/recipe/Herbed_Puy_Lentils.aspx to use up my puy lentils (as my red ones feature as dahl) do folk think it'd be nice with rice? or best with mash?
xxx
I'd have it with mash weezl, rice seems too similar in texture to me
in the old house we had a pear tree that gave us loads every year, so have tried many things using pears instead of apple
specifically, a small pear, a small banana and a splash of orange juice, whizzed, for breakfast
in a batter, so like clafoutis
in a crumble with half oats, half flour and some toasted walnuts in the topping
and yes, in apple cakes, substituting pear for apple0 -
Hope you all had a good christmas and all the best for 2011!!!!
Hi everyone !
Bet you all don't remember me lol
Tried some of the cristmas recipes, but have to say the yule log was the scrummiest.
Still haven't cracked the no knead bread, it just come out looking like cake and barely edible.
Were on a store cupboard / freezer challenge this month. Got a freezer full of food that i'm determined to use. My plan is last till end of January with only buying the bare essentials. I really want to have a clean out, so i can force OH into helping me fit the kitchen and save £600 for his gas safe certification. Well its a dream lol
I think £60 should be more than enough to see us through to the end of the month. Just have to keep a tight control of it all.
Oh that reminds me need to make bread!
Good luck all with your challenges x0 -
OK. The eggless apple cake with pears.
Verdict: Just imagine the bunny is my lovely pear cake just out of the oven :EasterBun
I think I managed to give it about 40 seconds to cool before having a slice. :rotfl:
I swapped milk for soya milk and used 3-4 pears (2 big, 2 small). I did drain the cooked pear mush after blitzing (put in a seive and let a little water pour out) as they are much more watery than apples and I didn't want the cake mixture to be too wet and not set. Well I've just about finished this slice so I best and do some quality control on another piece.0 -

Sorry to hijack the thread but have been gradually dipping into the recipes on the site but noticed that a couple don't always use all the ingredients in the method. The one I'm looking at currently is the Savoury Scones it mentions vinegar and cereal in the list but in the method it refers to water and ignores the cereal. It might be obvious to some but I just wanted to check if I add the cereal in with the flour and then the oil where it says water will I be on the right track???
