Poohbear i think theres a hummus type dish made from blitzed broad beans and mint but not sure what its called fresh ones are also nice with crisped bacon (and the bacon juice.......) stirred through , not sure that would work with tinned it would depend on the texture i think

I need some suggestions for my couscous mountain its already flavoured ....moroccan spiced as i recall .....any ideas

Ooh I'd be interested in this too - I've got loads of couscous that needs using!

Made a start on the packets and tins that need using, we had pasta with some soggy mushrooms from the fridge and a tin of chicken soup poured over - little bit of grated cheese and popped in the oven to brown - it was quite yum actually! It's not often I can get away with giving OH meat free meals but he really enjoyed tonights.

i have no idea what to do with the rest of the [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] food in the cupboard though.

Thank you for all the broad bean ideas. I hadn't thought of a hummus or putting in the bean chilli. I will have a good look at the websites that you have recommended. We have grown our own in the past but have never bought them tinned. I will freeze those not used the day I open the tin. I did that when I bought the 2kg tins of kidney beans.

Allegra- thank you for the welcome and the advice regarding the bread, I would have been swishing about with runny rolls all over the place:o TBH all the recipes sound rather good so I will be working my way through them but I thought it would be nice to start with the ones other people love the most.

Aless02- thank you also for the advice on baking up rolls. I do really need to invest in some loaf tins as they would pay for themselves in no time. I have in the past be known to do bread in cake tins as I have one of those oversized toasters and the odd shape will fit in there:o:rotfl:, but it is time I get myself some loaf tins. I may actaully be able to face going to the shops soon after the madness of the silly season.

I have decided to bake the onion tart tonight, it looks a bit more difficult then some and i will have to use parmesan instead of the grana padano but it does look extremely yummy. I may also do some rolls as well to have with dinner and freeze if i am feeling brave. Thanks again for the advice and I will report back on the results.:)

Hi puss  and welcome :D
If you can afford it, I would get the silicon bread tins.....
There is not any real difference in the final product.... but they do have less stick to them. And if you are pushed for space, they are ideal :D

My favorite 5 are, in no particular order.....
    1. Tangy bean pate
    2. Winter squash risotto (I made this with butternut squash and pumpkin on separate occasions - very yum)
    3. Bean Curry... although I do make it slightly hotter ;)
    4. The smoked salmon pasta from the xmas planner  (oh and the mushroom soup, but as this is in brackets, I wont count it ;):rotfl:)
    5. And the carrot cake is very scrummy :D

The biggest surprise meal for me is the Panzannella. I really didn't fancy the sound of it initially, but a load of us tried it on the same night, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I haven't made it in a while, as I would consider it to be more of a summer meal.... but if you have your rolls on the go today, maybe that could be your meal tomorrow, as you are in summer now ;)

Good luck... and let us know how you get on
    Potty :D

Hi Puss nice to see a new face joining us.
At chez shanks our top five are in no particular order
    1 Pizza
2 Risi e bisi (made with sweetcorn instead of peas for ex)
    3 Pasta armatricia
    4 Bean Pate
    5 Salmon Pasta

Also if you dont have tins for bread i found the Paul Merrit loaves very successful if a little faffy. Am at work just now but if someone hasnt done it by tomorrow night i will post the link for you if you fancy.
Let us know how you get on with the recipes and we like piccies (hint hint)

oh I forgot to ask;I have some festive paxo (aka not smelly sage n onion :p) and I'm wondering if I made it up and mixed it with some mince then baked.
Do you think it would make a sort of meatloaf?
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.
