    Help!
The orange cake recipe has disappeared from dropbox and I wanted to make the topping (although the method for the topping wasn't on there only ingredients)

had a lovely time at the Tunbridge Wells fireworks last night, I LOVE the huge big bang rockets, the ones that soar up really high, then there's a little expectant pause as I hold my breath hoping for a good one, then BANG
shiny glittery bits, ooh and aah

went back to theirs and had (non-cfr) toad in the hole, with roasted veg

then the bakewell tart I had taken over. Didn't price it, but wouldn't have been very cfr either, but went down very well. Made 2, so DP has one stashed in the microwave which he has already had a huge chunk of this morning - you should have seen the size of the piece he had last night! Good job the one I took over was a big one

laughed a lot, caught up with all our respective news and tootled home tired and happy

I am making the yule log today, at last :) Had to pull my finger out, as the whipping cream is nearing the end of its shelf life ;) Piccies to follow if all goes to plan, fingers crossed !

Okay, boys and girls, open your dictionaries now and look up the word pathetic. See that picture next to it ?

Yep, that's my attempt at the yule log :rotfl: It cracked something rotten, and there was no way - and I mean no way - I could roll it up properly.

Still, I am sure it will taste delicious :) It's just that in any yule log beauty contest, well.... It will win no awards I'm afraid ! ;)

Thanks you :D do you know if I just mix them together or is there any heating or something involved?

Nope, not a clue, sorry ! Will try and find out for you :)

In the meantime, here's my wonky log:

and Shanks' fire jelly (also known, in less exalted circles, as Nigella's chilli jam)

It's chilli jam made with hellishly hot scotch bonnets that Shanks and ex grew - I follishly licked the spoon I used to stir it, and it nearly took the roof off my mouth ! Ta-ta-ta-ta-ra, I'm lovin' it.... ;)
