Allegra, your tortillas look MUCH wetter than mine. I am going to add a lot more water next time, as they were a BEAST to roll out (seriously, I was sore afterwards
). Tasted lovely though...I hadn't made the mushroom soup, so I just improvised the mix with a bit of milk/cream, mushrooms, onions & pork (this was last week or so). Yummmmmy. Takes a LOT of prep-time though and the tortillas are definitely not rollable the next day as they go super-crunchy (so okay for dipping or quesadillas, but not as a wrap).

I thought I did them exactly as per recipe, but now I am starting to wonder if I perhaps halved all the dry ingredients and used full amount of wet - wouldn't be the first time :rotfl: Well, only one way to find out (no, NOT fight) - I shall have to do them again :T0

After the Christmas planner is finished, I have a 'lunchboxes planner' (with more normal schoolchild's lunches, and more normal British food for tea, and more convenient food for the main cook of the family) which can be finished off ready for publication if people have any enthusiasm and energy for working on that together. It would be helpful to know whether people feel that would be valuable to real Shirleys, before I decide whether to invest time in it.
Now would be a good time to delurk in support of the project, if you are there.

I did mine exactly to the recipe, too, and the result was a VERY firm dough. No harm done, my muscles needed that workout anyways.

And I nearly forgot - thumbs up for the salad
!!!!!! thought it "quite pleasant", and it was certainly rather filling - I think personally I'd have preferred the non-mayo version, but as I was the one to say "oh bung the mayo in as it's there, keep the traditionalists happy", I guess I better put up and shut up
For anyone who is not following the planner to the latter, something with a bit of tang (like gherkins, for instance, or indeed (Aless !) capers) would cut through the eggyness of the mayo beautifullyBut very, very nice as it is, anyway.

i think that's our best !!!!!! verdict yet?!
:rotfl:I think you might well be right......:rotfl:
Incidentally, I am hereby standing up to be counted in support of the lunchbox planner. I'll be there to do what I can to help with it, RL permitting, and if you give me a chance to create some space in my freezer, I'll also test it out !0 -
The 'good olive oil' probably makes a lot of difference too.
Hi I'm new to all this - both online forums and closely watching what I buy and eat! Surfing the threads is very illuminating but please forgive what may be a silly question - what is classed as 'good' olive oil and what would be 'bad'? I have used supermarket olive oil for quite a while....typically I buy the cheaper stuff. Ta!0 -

I love the lunchbox planner idea - i desperately need to stop spending £2+ per day on my lunch so I will definitely join in the testing phase and hopefully change my habits for good!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0
