    Hi

Now isn't this interesting, my order was cancelled, no probs I expected that when I ordered, I was given £5, fair gesture, now it came back in stock at £90 and I placed another order.

    It has been dispatched.

So it was not a stock issue entirely.

I shall be speaking to them if/when it arrives.

I also ordered it during the £90 'window of opportunity' yesterday. Then phoned them and had a go about whilst unable to source was acceptable and £5 goodwill gesture was acceptable - it was not acceptable to lie to customers and cancel it as unable to source on Friday....put back on web as in stock on Monday etc etc.....said I felt very aggrieved (as per their email to me - these Irish can obviously tell the future because they emailed I was aggrieved before it happened:rotfl:)

    Amazon's answer.........wait for it...........

"we were unable to source it from the supplier that had quoted us the price to offer it at £17.97 - in fact this particular supplier pulled our order on us and so we had to contact customers and advise them we were unable to source this item. We have since been able to source it from an alternative supplier but obviously at a higher cost to us and therefore we have put it back on our site with the price to our customer increased accordingly" (well words to that effect anyway).

We had a good discussion, never got to an argument, she admitted that this issue was still being looked at by 'management' and I asked her if it was possible that amazon might meet me halfway, ie offer me the box set at a mid price between what I ordered at and what they were selling it for now. She is going to ask and come back to (in my dreams)

At the end of the day I really wanted this set as a Christmas gift for my grandaughters and one for me as I collect Disney and I would be prepared to pay a reasonable compromise price. I'll wait and see and probably never hear another thing. My £90 order disappeared as well because as I was on the phone to her she said the new listing had been pulled anyway.

It WAS a stock issue - tied in with price they could get it for.

They found a supplier to supply the majority of the orders, the supplier then refused to sell such a vast quantity of stock at such a low price. Amazon tried to find stock elsewhere, which is why it took two weeks to cancel all the remaining orders when they couldn't source stock at the price they wanted to.

Yes the CS could have been better and this is really the only issue.

I agree totally - and yes my only gripe is the CS SHOULD have been better - hence my conversation with CS yesterday and no arguments. I know they never had a contract, they didn't have to offer a £5 goodwill gesture, but as I said to CS it comes across to customers as if they have lied to us by stating unable to source when they clearly have been able to source. I explained that I had offered to wait for stocks to come in and they had replied stating that they would not be able to obtain any stocks of this item in the future. No mention of sourcing elsewhere at a higher cost then.

I think the wording of the original cancellation email was poorly thought out and should have stated something along the lines of "no longer able to source at the price offered, however we are seeking to source stocks from elsewhere and this may mean this item will become available again from Amazon.com in the near future, albeit at a difference price" etc etc.

At the end of the day the service I have received from Amazon.com in the past has been faultless and they are one of the most reliable suppliers on the net - I'm not going to defect and take my paltry amount of business away from them over this, but as I said to CS yesterday they will get a much better response from customers in general if they are honest about errors or suppliers problems.

I still thank the OP for the opportunity to try and grad this bargain. If you don't try you never get and occasionally these pricing errors do pay off.

And now......I'm going to put this one to bed and move on to the next pricing error..........er......bargain!:T

:) That is ALL they need to do. Doesn't cost them anything and tells you the truth. Now who could complain about that?

Nope, no sign of any dvds on their way. Looks like you might have got lucky, congrats.
Why do companies offer you "free gifts?"
Since when has a gift NOT been free?
