excuse me for being thick, but i am working up to my first R&R.. anyways, how do you get R&R if the offer has ended? surely they'd say that the offer has now ended and the £44.98 price is right?

I really want to R&R a mobile as mine is knackered, but i'm too scared to!!

because the price promise policy says that if you're charged more than the price indicated on the shelf, then they'll refund the money and you can keep the product. It does not say that the price must be "in date" or any other terms or conditions.

Don't be daft - you're not thick - R&R needs a little bit of time & effort getting used to - I think of it as shopping backwards, trying to spot the incorrectly priced goods - I think the average brain is programmed to look for lower priced bargains and not higher priced R&R super-bargains.

The problem Tesco have with any item where the offer has ended is simply that the goods are still on display at the lower price - under the Price Promise they are obliged to R&R - don't take any waffle such as "Oh this doesn't apply to mobiles" - because it applies to everything in the store.

If the goods do not have the correct price (i.e. the higher price) displayed then you are on to a winner.

Look for phones with expired Shelf Edge Labels - the most recent deal finished on 29 October - this is shown in small type at the bottom of the SEL.

If you can use a Price Checker on the phone case to make sure that it will scan higher - the barcode is quite clear to see - usually on the back of the case I think.

Aside from the phones reported here in the last couple of days you need to exercise some caution - some of the phones will actually scan lower than the expired SEL.

Buy your mis-priced phone - then when CS hand the item over inspect your receipt and feign surprise and point out that the SEL has a lower price - always accompany CS staff to look at the offending SEL - less honest CS staff have been known to swipe the SEL and avoid the R&R....

Don't be scared - you've got nothing to lose - if it all goes horribly wrong you have 28 days to return the phone - no questions asked.

Let us know how you get on,

    Duder

PS There's a separate thread for discussion - here - this thread is really just for misprices!

PPS Mods - please move our posts!

If the phone is priced on the shelf at £44.99 and it scans at £45.99 then you can take it to Customer services and tell them you have been overcharged. They should give you a FULL refund and let you keep the phone. It is up to them to remove expired price offers and if they have not removed it that means they are displaying misleading prices which is illegal.
If they argue about the R&R you should point this out to them!

Is it possible to do this online, I have seen the Sony TV that has been mentioned on their website in the top ten listings at £799, but when you click on it it goes to the new price of £849, is it possible to carry out the same procedure online as it is in the shop?

I see the tv, but it's not in the top ten, it's the BEST BUY.

It is listed for £799.97 .... and goes through to the checkout at £799.97

So I assume Tesco HAVE taken the price down.

This belongs on the discussion thread - Mods please move this one!

To answer your question - I don't know as I've not been outside today.

I've said it before but Mr Crouch has never said "How do I score a goal?" - he goes out, plays football and tries to score.

So the message is - get out there and have a go - report back with your findings and any specific questions - ask the community on the discussion thread.

The TV's will probably have finished now though Cheeky. Just goes to show that the price was £799 all along but perhaps the stores either put the prices out to soon or the tills didn't update.
We took on Mr T and we won:D

Shame it had to end, will have to get free stuff from comps now
  • I am not sure about this so give me a little grace if I am wrong, I have just checked the website again for tesco, the Sony tv which yesterday was £799.97 in the top ten on the right hand side of the electrical homepage section and £849 if you clicked on the link has now dropped back down to £799.97. However, I know in store the price is £849.00, as I checked when I was in before 9 this morning, is it unusual for the price on the net to be lower than the in store price is it possible to use the net price for an R&r in store, or will this not hold up?
    I had a plan..........its here somewhere.
  • Actually they have only recently put the price up in store to £849 from being £799 it ran out on the 29/10.
    I had a plan..........its here somewhere.
