One of our local Tesco's have changed all the 10% off sel's on the main display phones but have a separate stand just around the corner from it still advertising 10% off and actually has lots of boxed phones marked with the 10% reduction.
I bought 2 Tescomobile Benq Siemens EF61 MIA phones, sel and box price was £89.97 each. They scanned at £99.97 each but further down on the receipt it showed Multibuy Savings 40:20 Multi Saver -20.01 and repeated this again a couple of lines further down, hence I received multibuy savings of £40.02.
CS initially advised me that it was an offer of £20 off if you spend £40 on other shopping hence the £20 off on each phone but then said that this was how the reduction worked.
As I had in effect got each phone for £77.96, I was not sure how to argue this, so I still have the phones and am thinking of going back and speaking to the manager this afternoon. Any suggestions and does anyone know what the 40:20 thing is?
I'm off to sleep now after my night shift but hopefully someone will have an answer by this afternoon.
Right, this all depends on if you bought some other things as well as the phones. If you only bought the two phones then you'll have a tough time getting r&r in my opinion, but if you also bought some shopping (ie over £40) then you should e able to get r&r as despite the fact that you you got the twenty pounds off, the SEL still stated a price of less than they scanned at, and as such you were overcharged... I thinkTitch0 -

you could argue that you expected them to scan at 89.97 each since that what's the SEL said,( total 179.94), and then the discount should have applied - £40 off to £139.92 (or 69.96 per phone)
Even though you've had a discount, it was a discount on an overcharge.0 -

Okay, let me try and put it clearer
The two phones scanned through at £99.97 each, so a total of £199.94.
Now, my point is that the £20 off offer, the £40 doesn't include the price of the phones. So if the OP bought only the two phones and nothing else, and then the cashier took off two lots of £20 (well £20.01 as the plu to make the multisave goes through at 1p so £20.01 comes off) he would have paid £79.97 per phone. Now since the OP didn't qualify for the offer, they shouldn't have had the £20 off and so ended up winning out of the situation.
However, had the OP bought other things to make up to the £40 mark then he would have paid £99.97 - £20 = £79.97 per phone, however the SEL showed a price of £89.97, and so it should have been £89.97 - £20 = £69.97, so he's lost out here and has been overcharged, granted there's been a discount applied, but it should have been a discount off of the lowe priceTitch0 -
Ok, I tried Rand R again after failing the first time (got charged LESS than the out of date SEL first time round). Thought I'd go for some meat this time- saw a sholder of welsh lamb, it said £5.99/kg on the pack but £5.98/kg on SEL. Bougth it, but the price per Kg didnt show on my receipt therefore how am i meant to claim to be overcharged?
i'm seriously thinking of giving up- I cant seem to get the hang of it!0 -
thats what the .... was for.
was going to write something else but got confused only if he did buy anything else he got ripped off0
