ftbworried wrote:Ok, I tried Rand R again after failing the first time (got charged LESS than the out of date SEL first time round). Thought I'd go for some meat this time- saw a sholder of welsh lamb, it said £5.99/kg on the pack but £5.98/kg on SEL. Bougth it, but the price per Kg didnt show on my receipt therefore how am i meant to claim to be overcharged?
i'm seriously thinking of giving up- I cant seem to get the hang of it!
The price per KG is on the meat (£5.99) with the cost of the meat calculated on £5.99 per KG so if you have been charged the price on the pack which has been calculated on the price of £5.99 per kg (not £5.98 on SEL) then you have been overcharged!
Hope this makes sense!0 -
Thanks Andrea, the thing is on the pack it said £5.09 (for the price of the shoulder) and thats the price i got charged at the till. Surely, CS will just state that Im not overcharged because I paid the price that was stickered on the pack and i must have read that!?
How do people argue with CS that they were overcharged on 'per kg' mistakes?0 -
explain to them that the sign said 5.89 and when you bought the pack you were charged 5.990

can anyone check ps2 black prices please. this is the long cardboard box type -not dvd case style thanks0

ftbworried, i had this one last week, what you do is go to the cs desk and tell them that the price per kg on the pack is more than the price on the sel.
it worked for me. good luckAnother day another R&R

"SEL made me think the price had been reduced. Thought the discount would come off at till".
"I thought thats a better price per KG than ASDA so just grabbed a piece as big as I needed. Didn't need to read actual pack...."
"According to the law you cannot charge a price higher than the lowest price displayed. Therefore I have been overcharged. I would now like you to process me a refund in accordance to your policy on overcharging, which I believe does not affect my statutory rights." Then just stand there and do nothing. They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0 -
Say you just assumed that the price would be adjusted when it went thru the till to reflect the lower price per kg advertised. That way, you are suggesting inexperience and also *hinting* that you *may* know a bit about retail law. A good combination. lol.
PS After reading the post from Broke Student, I would suggest a more sofltly softly approach at first, personally. No need to go in with all guns blazing and laying the law down etc. Save that trump card for if you need it later in the conversation...I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -

I dont get the out of date SEL thing. if the csa told me the cheaper price offer finished on whatever date, how do i argue that? sorry for the noob q, just cant get my head round this and i want to!0

Just say I didn't notice the date as it's in such small letters. The price was the only thing I saw and that would appear to be the advertised price so I would expect to be charged that at the till...I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0
