i just got back from my local tesco.. and got a free benq siemen fone!!!!

paid for my fone in CS, asked them about warantee, everything and left tesco. as approaching back to my car, i REALISED i was mispriced so i went back to the store. (half shaking cuz i was reaaaly scared...)

told the CS i got overcharged, she checked with other colleague and rang up the manager. after their conversation, she told me i just got myself a freee fone...

i was shocked.... and i still am. they didnt offer me the difference but a full refund straight away. obvs i 'pretend' i didnt know about their policy and the CS explained it out to me. and that the fone is still under the same warantee everything. i suppose they were very honest about their policy because its not a big store (not tesco extra), and RnR doenst happen too much often in there or something.

the CS did say she will have to check all the SEL for the phones and i do think they were aware of the problem with fone being RnR heavily in other store. her look gave it away...

aww got me all shivering and thinking what i should say if they were strong about it... thank you mr T.

thank you to the people that encouraged me to go and the ones that contribute all the information here... my first BIG rnr.... a big jump from 8 pounds to 90 pounds, ummmmmm and my bf (which didnt quite want me to go in the first place) was super impressssed.

    THANK YOUUU xxx

In a store I was in at the weekend I noticed a big SEL in the meat department that said "Beef joints £5.85 per Kilo" no mention of what type of joint, dont think the sign had a barcode on it either!

How the hell can they display a sign as ambiguous as this???

I was going to try it if I didnt find anything else but I got some organic chickens on a dead cert.

There was a sign exactly the same apart from the ours said 'Beef Joints
£5.18 kg', it was on a fridge promotion end and the joints of beef behind the sign were marked £5.28 - we had r&r on 2 joints. There was no way of telling if this sign was for these joints but as it was right in front of the ones we picked up they couldn't really argue.

oh no... i am just going thru my receipt... and realised the lady didnt write anything on my original receipt from rnr(nothing at all)...
she did sign on the top on it for some reason when i bought the fone though.

does this suggest i can take it back (to another store) and actually refund the product?

i know this sounds very out of line, can someone please advice?

you can certainly take it back but not too sure if u can to a different store
  • Regardless of whether she has written anything on the receipt you can take the phone back within 28 days under their return policy. Some on here dont agree with doing that and say that you should only R&R what you actualy want for yourself and I tend to agree with that. But yes to answer your question you can take it back and yes you can take it back to a different store. Some stores say they have to stock the product but others just take it back.
We took on Mr T and we won:D

Shame it had to end, will have to get free stuff from comps now

I think the issue of being offered the difference is just something local stores try to get away with on expensive items. I would say that 90% of shoppers ( just a guess )that get overcharged and query it at CS either dont know the policy or havent bothered to read the blue sign and CS know that, thats why if they can offer the difference as "goodwill" then they will.

I assume the relevant department managers get regular feedback on how much their dept has added to the stores waste figures.

I think that way back when I started going food shopping I had queried overcharges and got given the difference back and was quite happy.

And in the very recent past I had even brought an overcharge to the attention of the till operator before i paid!!, not now obviously!!

Just got my first r&r. Tesco whole chicken stuffed with pork and sage...£2.19 per kg on wrapper, £1.99 per kg SEL. CS spent ages tapping away with a calculator, but they couldn't make the price on the wrapper equal the SEL price, so Sunday dinner in this house is on Tesco

I'd like to say a big thank you to all the Tesco mis-price posters for their words of encouragement.
