I think that some refunds are based on out of date labels and others on incorrect discount application.

Does this indicate that the discount should be manually awarded by the till operator...........

So the new/current discount of " £20 off for all phones over £50 when bought with £10 airtime" is either not coming off at certains stores ? or on certain models ?

There are also r&r's on expired October Sels

Well as I've been to all my stores and have found no expired sels, I would appreciate any help with breaking the current £20 deal.

yes, i did get r&r on the phones and it seems to be national, it was an expired sel that ended on sunday

ok, so it's another expired SEL and not a glitch with the current promotion

Not sure if I'm reading you right wlfc, but the current promotion wasn't apllied for me.

Woman in Dundee says it is cashier applied at time of sale (or not, as happened to me).

    Does this help?

After a couple of weeks with no problems with CS staff - I had a good chuckle with the Miami DVD box set - it scans at £29.97 and is on BOGOF - mine had an expired '3 for 2 - £19.97' sticker on. After CS summounded a boss it went.....

Entertainment Manager: "No that's right - £19.97 is the special price when you buy 3 of them."

    Dude: "Umm, I don't think so - it says £19.97 or '3 for 2.'"

Entertainment Manager: "No, that's the special price when you buy 3."

Dude: "Do you mind showing me?"

    Entertainment Manager: "Pardon?"

Dude: "Can you scan it 3 times and show me the special price?"

Scan, scan, scan - 3 lots of £29.97, triggers BOGOF - total is £60ish.

    Entertainment Manager: "Oh, you're right."

    Dude: "Yes."

Entertainment Manager: "Give the gentleman £10 back - we have overcharged him."

    Dude points to Our Promise.

Entertainment Manager: "Oh yes, I'm sorry."

Now there was no real problem - I was nice - CS were nice - even the Manager - albeit somewhat wriggly - was pleasant enough.

A good example of the way some Managers will try and talk their way out of a R&R .

Now then, you horrible newbies - if you get something like this - The Dude advises you to be polite and stand your ground....

ok, so as I inderstand it, the whole current promotion relies upon cashier authorising the discount?

so did you have problems with your r&r ? and how did you get on ?

Yep, the cashier has to apply the discount... so if you want an R&R I'd suggest going to the ultra-attitude person who can't even break off her conversation about bonfire night parties with the next-door cashier long enough to even acknowledge you let alone sell your groceries

I've never had the balls to look for R&Rs before. But this one fell in my lap without me asking it too!

I didn't get my R&R at the store - they wouldn't back down - so I'm damn well gonna get it now! Third call to Dundee and I'm sending my letter this evening.

I do think you people who got out and look for R&Rs are terribly brave! I feel like I'm being rude or something even asking!

She was gone ages & finally came back about 10 mins later. Now this is just so funny...... she said that its got nothing to do with the weight & that they were getting onto head office about it. The funniest bit was when she told me that they had weighed my chicken :rotfl:

I couldn't believe they went & weighed my chicken.

    That's a good one Daisy.

During the war I had a splendid incident...

The CS lady actually worked out in long-hand the difference between the SEL and Packet price per kg and applied a pro-rata discount - took her ages.

I must have been feeling cruel - I let her calculate and then offer the difference - I then read out the Price Promise paragraph in true Forest Gump style....

Just made a test call to Dundee with a fictional overcharge scenario. Said that the SEL was out of date and store wouldn't R+R. Dundee backed up store and said R+R doesn't apply to out of date SELs. I asked them if a customer was supposed to check the SEL date on every single item they put in their trolley and they said "yes, that's what the date's there for".

It's official then... Tesco have decided it's perfectly ok to display incorrect prices, provided they have an old date on the SEL. It then becomes the customer's fault that they were overcharged! Absolutely unbelieveable.

If this is part of a cunning plan to curtail the number of R+Rs then it's going to blow up in their faces.
