In most stores I think it is 8am. In my local 24 hr store they were open before 7 when I went for my refund

I have found that a scanner that gave me the 'seek assisstance' message will work if you swipe the bar code a couple of times. Is this another ploy to discourage us all???

I was in a store the other day where the scanner wasnt working, I found out why too!

It was turned off at the plug!

So I turned it back on ;)
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
  • Not sure what model but after i fruitless search of the main shelves I was on point of giving up when i walked around the corner and straight into a cardboArd 10% off display thingy. choose samsung 159.99 reduced to 143.99 cardboard box (not CD type case) with all the prices handily printed on it. R&R without too much hassle. Thanks Mr T!

Had a bit of a strange experience when using the self-scan till yesterday. scanned some meat (mini fillets at £2.99) and on the screen a big sign came up with the price and asked me to confirm it was correct before proceeding. Never had this before. Is this an attempt to reduce R&Rs?

  • Out of date SEL on a BT DECT, offered the difference and was told to call Head Office if I didn't like it. Got full refund and left product there.

Does R&R apply to out of date SEL or is it a case of luck?
  • In my local store, lots of goods don't appear on the shelves. Instead there are DVD boxes which it says to take to the till. I assume the DVD case is scanned and you collect your goods elsewhere.
How does this work with R&R? Do I collect my goods and then visit CS to query the price? Or would you just take the DVD box to CS after paying but before collecting the goods and query it straight away?

Yes, R+R definitely applies to out of date SELs. They were wrong. Call CS Dundee on 0800 505555.

Technically it shouldn't matter if you've swapped the display case for the actual item, as legally you've paid for it and it's your property, even if they haven't given it to you yet. But it puts you in a stronger position if you get the actual item in your hand before mentioning you think you've been charged too much.

The danger with mentioning your overcharge before you've swapped the display case is that some stores have been known to pretend they're out of stock (i.e. lie through their teeth) as another novel approach to wriggling out of R+Rs.

in my experience it's the CS desk you visit to get the product, so at what point you decide to "notice" the overcharge, is up to you. Might want to wait till the goods are in your hand.
Watch out for the out of date SELS though (like the current mobile phone ones) as some CS will not have it and you could really struggle.

Incidentally is there are definitive way around this ? A foolproof way to get around awkward CS staff who say that out of date SELS do not apply ?
