I am willing to be corrected, but I assumed it to mean that he was from the council.

It's a lapel badge with the logo of the local Council on it. If you don't have one you can easily make your own, Blue Peter style, by buying a blank perspex badge from W.H.Smith, cutting out the logo of your council off their letterhead and sliding it into the badge.

If they want to jump to panicky conclusions that you might be a Trading Standards official, it's up to them. But I'm just wearing it because I'm a big fan of my local council

It's amazing what a bit of reverse psychology does. All of a sudden you see the guilt written all over their faces as they fawn over you with apologies and cross your palm with silver in accordance with their advertised policy.

Trading standards I have had the pleasure of meeting have been more likely to have train spotting badges

Can't quite believe I have spent the best part of a page on my 2nd favourite thread discussing Taxiphils lapel decoration. Must be a slow night :rolleyes:

I only asked as I read it to mean it made Tesco tow the line with less of a battle.

Given the topic of conversation, I was refering to CSD staff. Did not think I was being all that obtuse...

As on the misprices, I posted that I got a Samsung phone refunded cos of 10% off leaflet. However, I also tried another phone at the same time (the Motorola v3?). But picked up black one and the leaflet said the pink one (although on the front it did state all mobile phones). So gave in at that point and said I wanted a refund as they wouldn’t give me it free.

So tried for two, got one and had the other refunded. But think this pricked up CS’s suspicions that I was only in it for the refunds. Next thing there’s Mr Manager watching me get the refunded and whispering to Security man. Am scared!

So now expecting a letter from HO Tesco’s saying please don’t darken our doorsteps again. I know I’m not legally doing anything wrong but really don’t want to get banned! Will give it a rest for a bit I think. Until I find the £800 tv!
