I don't think anyone got a tv. Wasn't it just a wind up??
The tv's are by no means a wind up. Such statements abounded in the early xbox days but just do a search on ebay for Just Cause if you want an inkling of just how many of those Tesco shelled out, to date I am fairly confident at least four tv's have been purchased with two of the refunds already doled out and two pending.

Great letter, silver. Just one tiny little point: you can delete the mention of the ASA as it's not in their remit (surprisingly) to investigate Point of Sale material.

The ASA would not be concerned with the pos but it IS in their remit to deal with the failure to honour the misprice policy.

I was also convinced that it was a matter for the ASA until I reported it to them and they told me it was nowt to do with them - dodgy POS is a job for Trading Standards instead.

*EDIT* Just saw your post Ben - how is it in the ASA's remit to deal with it? I thought they adjudicated over print and broadcast advertisements?

    RE: “Refund and Retain” policy.

On October 30th 2006 I purchased a mobile phone from the Tesco store in xxxxxxxxxxx. It was priced £74.95, but an offer stated £20 off when you spend £40 instore. This offer was not deducted at the checkout. (Full details of the transaction are enclosed.)

    Yours sincerely,

    Silver

    One bit of advice-

I would scrub the 1st line "RE: Refund and Retain" policy.

You sound too clued up. This phrase is not used by Tesco. It was originally named refund and replace, but even this is not used anymore, refund and retain seems to have been coined on this forum

    Just say "regarding my overcharge"

It's all over their website for a start!

Good point! I never thought of that. Does the policy appear anywhere else, besides instore POS and their website? (I don't think we can include the Prunella Scales TV ad, as they stopped showing it years ago). Has anyone ever seen the policy on a leaflet or any other form of advertising?
