Say Becky was not a genuine customer, but instead was a thief who had changed the labels to steal the product.

This would make her the world's worst thief.

Not only did she pay for the goods ( Item #1 in Good Shoplifting Guide - Don't pay for goods ) but she then is accused of tampering with labels - what she printed her own self adhesive circular price reduction labels.

Clever girl our Becks but wasted on £18 worth of (admitedly tasty) steak.

Not only that but she must have driven from Swansea to Manchester yesterday which is where I got several packs from.

I know you weren't accusing her constantine but would a shoplifter really go to all that trouble when Tesco are so incompetent generally as for there to be no need.

Personally, I would have walked away without the steaks or refund and contacted the police and reported shoplifting.

Isn't that what it is called when someone in a store removes an item belonging to someone else without paying for it?

My brother in law has just had a run in with the Dave the Security Manager at the Stevenage Branch, apparently Dave behaved appallingly !

He got overcharged on two Bush freeview boxes, SEL 29.97 SCANNED at £34.97, he was told to go the electrical desk to query the price and from that moment the staff in that store went into panic and paranoid mode, apparently you could just tell that it was a very unusual occurance, after a period of scratching his head and checking that SEL matched up with items (time and time again) he was taken down to the CS desk (stopping several times to tell other members of staff about the misprice, you could see this was a big event at this store).

Anyway Mr Electrical Department man said "he has been overcharged on these two boxes and needs a full refund" The two (yes both) trundled off and returned with Nazi Dave (obviously a keen follower of this website) straight away Dave said " I understand that you've just come from the Tesco in Hatfield" my brother in law truthfully replied "No I haven't and I am happy for you to cross check your cctv" Nazi Dave then asked for his name and he replied with his true name (which matched the till receipt thingy for tv licensing people) he also produced evidence that confirmed that he given his correct name, Dave then asked why he had bought two boxes?, to which he replied "because I have 2 daughters and two bedrooms".........does he really need to justify what he has bought?.

This seem to stun Dave as he was sure he had collared the Hatfield r&r er, he then quickly apologised and departed as quickly as he came, my brother in law asked who he was "they said he's called Dave and he's the Manager" my brother in law said "what the store manager?" they replied "no I think he's the Security Manager, but we don't know his surname".

Well Dave my brother in Law wants me to pass on his best wishes and he is now going to spend rather more time looking for misprices in your store, but will take his weekly shopping to Asda where he is not made to feel like a criminal.

I'll certainly make a point of calling in to see Dave on my travels
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

  • Blame the good people of Saxmundham for you not having a third big Tesco near Ipswich. Tesco hasn't given up on the idea of getting a foothold in the Suffolk coastal towns market.... ;)

Believe me 2 extra's, plus a little Tesco's is more than enough! My interest in shopping at Tesco's has stemmed from MSE & the threads re. R&R. Previously it was used more like the corner shop for those things I alway's seem to forget when I do a big shop elsewhere....! Maybe not anymore......

I always make a point of ensuring Tesco make a rather large percentage loss on my 'shop' every time I darken their doors. Makes me feel all warm inside. ;)

Not as yet! Little Tesco's at Grange Farm gave r&r on Doritos the other week without me even having to say anything, CS lady was lovely. Tried there for the Champers & chocs tonight, had them but no stickers on boxes. Agree Martlesham seems better all round (can never seem to find anything anywhere that I want in Copdock) & this was before R&R came into the equation. Will update on my progress in due course......good luck on yours.

I heard earlier that the Walkden store is planning to expand and become the larest Tesco in the UK. They want to buy the row of shops near the store and plan on moving the petrol station to the main road from the tesco carpark. I hope they dont remove the scanners as they work.

Does that mean they will be installing one of those Tesco-patented 'wobbly' first floors? :D
