Funnily enough, before I read this post, I was in Tesco in Honiton trying to decide whether to go for the near enough definite Fosters on the out of date 2 for £6.00 Yellow SEL, or the less certain white SEL for £6.98 for Becks Vier 12 packs. I decided on the Becks, as in the end, even if it's free, Fosters is still, well, Fosters. Anyway, the Becks went through at £7.99, so it was a nice simple £15.98 R&R. Thanks to Plushchris for the original post on this. I left the Fosters for the less discerning R&R drinkers of Devon and as far as I know, the old SELs for the Fosters are also still up in both the Exmouth store and Sidmouth Express.

Spa, what about if a SEL says the item is discontinued and has a reduced price (white label, though), yet the product scans at a higher price? Surely, if it's discontinued, as the label says, the SEL is correct, not the till price?
Tetley's Smooth Flow Bitter 24 pack is discontinued with a SEL price of £14.98. It's going through the till at £15.98.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

A product that is discontinued is not always reduced. It does stand to reason that logically the product would be reduced to clear however this is not always the case. Also, just because it is discontinued in one store does not mean that it is discontinued in all and therefore may not be reduced.
Munt, you know how the system works, the SEL is a piece of paper that is not physically linked to the till system.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

Anyone here familiar with the term "P/M" on SEL's apparently standing for "pre-marked"......
Well I have just returned from my local tesco (hence why i didnt cause a fuss) anyway i spotted that they again had the willow farm mini fillets SEL'ed at 2.49 with a sign right next to the same sign for the same product decalring 2.69 with exact same size and description only it was half the size and contained the letters "p/m" and was refused R&R because of this....
i backed down due to it being my local store and because i already had a basket full of finest burgers which i got an R&R...
just feel a bit "miffed" now that i let it go .....TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -

No! And as a consumer, I should be informed of any shorthand/initials on price tags before I buy.
Imagine if on my cheques there were he initials, "RTCC" I have not informed Tesco that this means "Right To Cancel Cheque." Not quite the same, but you catch my drift??Sig ah Sig Ahhh0 -

When buying a create of booze through the self service some of the creates are cardboard and some are plastic. Instead of scanning the barcode on the create you twist one of the middle cans and scan a can.. scanner thinks its a pack of 4..not 24 so you get it at the lower price. How i found out was i saw an out of date sel for fosters and ive had plenty of fosters so i mentioned it to a bloke who was in there by the booze and said to him what to do. He said "i dont like fosters i like cider.." then mentioned his trick.. he stunk of booze and what did he have in his hand.. create of cider.
I know its not an ranr just thought i'd share it.. good little trick but only for the strong hearted...and i'm not one of them!
Anyone heard of that before?? I guess you would have to add a few more items as on the selfscanners dont the staff have to clear the system to say you are over 18??
i think that this is technically known as theft....Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
