It will probably be PID next. Think about it, Tesco is a company that 'costs' every action down to within an inch of its life. It can't have escaped them that, for all it pays the PID as a whole in all the stores, there are still loads of pesky R&R'ers finding misprices without too much difficulty, so effectively the job is getting done by amateurs who's only requirement is a few free products every now and again (remember, R&R'd product gets recorded as waste, similar to a box of broccoli that's gone yellow, and hence can be offset against tax.). Do these R&R'ers demand sick pay, company pension, national insurance contributions and other worker's rights? Of course not. In other words, they are CHEAP and get the job done. A little like beta testers for Microsoft's latest Windoze bloatware, I suppose. This won't have gone unnoticed at Tesco Towers, believe me. :D
Until the advent of LCD or OLED shelf edge labels the PID department cannot be dispensed with...even then it cannot be got rid of fully as there are certain checks that need to be carried out. Out of interest, how many price decreases does your local R&R'er action on a daily basis?:p

If the pink filofaxes are still scanning at £14.97 they have put new boxes out in Tesco Cardiff Road so they have £12.97 on the boxes again. Also a possible misprice on Eternity for men 50ml Bottom shelf sel £30 next shelf up sel £24.94 not sure what it actually scans at. Didn't go for either knew the guys on cs.

Having been away for a few days and only just got up to speed with reading this thread, here are the Dude's thoughts this evening = take 'em or leave 'em...........

Paranoia - In the immortal words of Mel Gibson you need to "CALM DOWN SON!" - it is now widely recognised that with a Clubcard CS staff can only look at recent transastions from that particular store - but this is not part of the standard R&R procedure.

However - if you plan to write to Sir Terry then you may want to think long and hard about your overall Clubcard usage before putting pen to paper.

The Dude and others have repeatedly advised - don't use a Clubcard for R&Rs - and if you want to hide your id then use cash - but even if you use a card - you can still give a false name - The Dude does - normally Walter or Donny.

CS Attitude - I've noticed a shift in the last 2 weeks - now it is rare for a CS Dude to offer anything other than an R&R - albeit with a smile or snarl - I know that some Dudes here have said that there has been no 'rocket' from HO - but there does seem to be a shift - a good time for newbies to have a go.

Am I Bovered? At the start of this week I visited about 10 stores - they ranged from nowt to mis-priced goods everywhere - some of you newbies have voiced frustration after just one visit - keep trying - a store on the ball this week doesn't equal the same next week - and this is even more true for individual Departments.

I have literally been to Store X on a Monday - loads of misprices - been back on the Tuesday - nothing - gone back on the Friday - and found more to R&R - you just need to keep trying.

    The Dude Abides.

I just had my first r&r experience was a bit scary, as i'm normally completely non confrontational unless i'm drunk :) got a full r&r on 16 cans of fosters as it was all i could afford lol £13.08 was a bit of a palarva told them about the price lady go's off and comes back with the big lable saying 2 for 6.30 so went back with her and shew her the 2 for 6.00, then had a bit of a discussion about it being out of date and me telling her its advertised at 2 for 6 it should have been charged at 2 for 6, but finaly got me refund think i'll need to drink some now to calm me nerves lol

    Cheers

    Regards

The Dude gives very good advice up there. I remember myself getting a bit 'down' in my early days when I had visted a couple of stores and found nothing and I remember the Dude saying something similar to me. The Dude was right, of course. Your first reaction when starting out is to think that Tesco have 'cottoned on' and there will be no more misprices. Have patience, there always are! Tesco are !!!!!! at sustaining any action. One store may have a particular 'our prices will be right' drive one week and it may be difficult to find an R&R. Don't despair, they won't be able to sustain it! This is not idle speculation but opinion born out of experience. If you can't get an R&R at your store one day, don't let it out you off looking again the next day/week etc. The fact is Tesco is just too damned huge to have 100% of staff that actually give a toss about the company. Happy R&R'ing!
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!

Without wishing to diminish the enthusiasm of this post, others may want to think long and hard about getting repeat refunds for the same item.

It over-steps the boundaries of R&R - I don't think that anyone on this thread should be encouraging others to go for this.

    But that's just me.

    His Dudeness

I understood from other seasoned R&R's and one of the Tesco managers that contributes that once Tesco had refunded your money and you retained the goods that the transaction was complete. Tesco's loss is because they tried to illegally over charge you. Your statutory rights are unaffected.

Therefore it is perfectly legal and proper to then return those goods under Tesco's 28 day return policy if you decide you don't want them. Just like if a product you received as a result of R&R develops a fault or was rotten, you can return it for replacement of a refund.

Am I wrong on this ?
  • Just a quickie to say a big THANKYOU to the posters on here - I've now got £37 of prime sirloin steak in the freezer and a brand new iron, all courtesy of rnr.
The CS member of staff was extremely reluctant to give me a refund, but the manager said I was entitled to one, whereupon CS staff member said to manager "you're not going to give HER all that meat for NOTHING????" heh, heh, heh, heh, heh....
Well, as they say "every little helps":D

I think that you are quite right on this. I think Hey Dude must have misunderstood your original post, because while some may argue about the morality of it, I think it has been established that you are well within your rights to get a refund on a product, even if you previously had an R&R on that product.
