Such a hard slog for you right now ... but you *are* doing it, at least. Do you keep your eyes open for nice freebies? Samples of stuff and whatnot?

Sorry you've got the cold too, it sounds a bad'un ... but lots of luck with the job application, that sounds brilliant, and would give you a *lot* more time in the day, getting rid of that amount of travelling. I used to travel up to London once a week, and it was well worth it financially for a long time, but the work got less and less, and eventually I stopped the travel completely - turned out I could do what work was left down here where I live, so I gained *hours* in my day. Hope you can do the same with that travel.

Hi KC - and thank you so much for your warm wishes :D I have not had any acknowledgement of receipt of my application but am guessing that maybe not all companies do that? I'm also not going to get my hopes up - i thought about the application first - yes its a job i'd want to do, chance of progression, learning new things as well as being able to use the skills and qualifications i have, its local, its really, really really local - i could walk there if necessary :) the hours are so much better for me. but there was no indication of wages. I'm not getting my hopes up as i don't want to be disappointed i've put in for lots of jobs - the most recent i thought yep, great, i can do that, i've done it before - but because i'd not done it before at that company and someone else had they got the job. Understandable really they knew all the systems and whatnot.

And Freebies - i love freebies :T:T:T - although i often read of people on here getting freebies i've not even seen - mine are more the one's where i'm lucky enough to be walking past someone handing out free samples :)

How are you anyway KC? *notes to self - must find KC's thread* :D

It's a complete pain all this money shuffling isn't it. At least you will have cleared a debt though at the end of it!

Hi jwil - i agree! I guess its a case of sometimes getting what you need - i wanted all my debt at 0% but as this bill has to be paid i was lucky enough to have got the BT through and that it was paid into my overdraft which i have access to rather than the one i don't as i don't know how i'd have raised this money by Friday otherwise :eek::eek:

Just checked banking and will be changing priorities on payments again - now focusing on the inaccessible overdraft for PAD's :)

Oh! I also bought a new bra yesterday - i am considering returning it but its gorgeous, just the right fit and will replace a tatty one i have that was just the right shape for certain outfits - it was £44.95  and i got it reduced for £5 :) never had such an expensive bra before :rotfl::rotfl:

Yay to a new bra - if it fits well and will work with a lot of outfits, then I say keep it. Mine are shocking, and I'd love to have a proper fitting because I just can't get them to fit properly, but I'm too embarrassed. :o I did try and pluck up the courage a couple of years ago, but the assistants were too busy chatting, so I left again.

  • I am in admiration of your dedication to MSing. I completed many assignments last year and I know how long it can take to get the assignments in the first place, carry them out and do the write ups. When I took a break from MSing earlier this year, I started missing it a bit, still went shopping and spent too much money so I am just doing a few now because it curbs the amount of money I spend! Good luck with picking up some nice assignments.

Get well soon x I also hope things calm down for you; you seem to have a lot of stressful things on the go.

Jwil - I don't know if this will reassure you, but bra fitting is different these days. M + S have followed the posh underwear retailers and fit by sight (and a bit of trial and error) rather than having to undress and them measuring you.

  • Hi Dedicated

Have spent the last few days reading your whole thread - think I 'saw' you over on Hypno's thread.

If you want help with a cv then NorthernLas and someone else I think on MemoryGirl's thread can do them and hopefully will be willing to help without you needing to spend lots of money.

I am somewhat confused by the way you work things with your OH - did you own the house before you both met as this is the only reason I can think of for him not willing to help with some of the expenditure on the house.

DH and I both pay a set amount in to a bill account no matter what we earn, last year I was earning about half what he did but still had to contribute the same but now I am earning about the same but although it annoyed me he would not budge and I was quite proud that I paid my way and still reduced my debt whereas he was racking up his debt although since he became poorly I am 'helping' him sort his finances out :T

Sorry to be nosey but can I ask how you manage the household bills as you have mentioned once or twice not having enough in the bank to cover the DD's for mortgage etc? Does OH give you a set amount each month or do you split bills as they come in? I noticed also peviously that when you did a SOA you listed mortgage, water and council tax together but then listed utilities seperately and mentioned that you struggle to pay these when the bill comes in.

Do you split all household bills or only some of them?
Would having a seperate bill account work and this account could run itself without you worrying about whether you have enough to cover everything as the money needed would go in automatically - this is what I do and it saves so much time and also prevents me spending the bill money at the start of the month and then having to pay a bill at the end.

Sorry for the all the questions but I am intrigued about how couples run there finances (sorry should have said earlier, DH and I used to have a joint account which ran really well but then he started racking up the credit cards so the minimum payment rose that I told him either we had seperate accounts or he could leave )

One last thing ((((DedicatedDFW))) for all the hard work and effort you put into everything in really trying circumstances such as your illness, your low income and your not quite onboard OH :D
