Puds - I went out last night and had a biryani, and and was amazed at how low it was in 'syns' on SW. It was recommended to me by someone on the SW thread and on twitter as a good option, so compared to all the masalas, and such like, it's actually not as bad an option. Sometimes, when I have a mad craving like that, I find that having a controlled indulgence is the only way to combat it. I try to convince myself I am not 'giving in' to my desire for a food, but that I have made a decision to have some, and then control what I am having. So yesterday I was having a curry, but normally I'd have wanted to have a pasanda, or something in a creamy sauce, naan, etc., but I chose the biryani (which I'd never had before) because it had been suggested as a safer option. There's also a trade-off too, I now have to ensure that the rest of my week is completely on track, lots of fruit & vegetables, and no other indulgences.

If I'm going to nail this weightloss malarky once and for all, I've got to nail wanting to binge too. Meh!

As a distraction i ended up making some home made soup, but its ended up as brown slop, it really doesnt look very appetising at all! The taste's ok but my serving suggestion is "eat with eyes closed!".

You've never had biryani before - blimey! If its done properly theres a boiled egg served in the rice, has been my fave for a long time :-)
I thought the only safe options at an indian were tandoori chicken or chicken tikka, but when you start adding rice and curry sauce then i reckon that wont be considerably different to most other curry dishes.
I know the worst thing on the menu is the keema paratha - that's like a double skinned giant fried bread stuffed with mince.

One thing that Blackburn's not short of is Indian takeaways, there are hundreds ofthem and they constantly battle each other on price, you can get 4 curries and rice for £10 /just £2.50 each and that includes delivery (Any giant size 16" pizza with 2 lots of chips and 2 cans of pop is £5) If takeaway food wasnt so damn cheap in Blackburn then maybe it wouldnt be so tempting all the time compared to my brown slop soup !

theres a biryani somewhere calling my name, and i'm doing all i can at the moment to not answer back. I so need something to distract me from the argument going on inside my head. clean the house? a walk in the park? no, i think i'd better superglue my lips together: just to be on the safe side!

Work usually goes quiet in December (i sell printer ink) but its not usually this bad, my last customer was two days ago. The boredoms definitely not helping the willpower problem!

i had 2 tandori mixed grills and a half a tub of rice last night :D:D:D

    carbs - insulin - cravings ...
  • Well go me: (joint) SOTW:j:j:D:rotfl:. Never thought I'd see that again.

Done to much this week - too much confidence in feeling so much better so needed a 'do damn all day'. Definitely staying on sofa today. We have a dusting of snow but it is very dark at 10.10 a.m.

I've never had a biryani either puds:D. Yeah, I know, I should get out more:rotfl:.

I learn so much from all of you who have cravings to binge eat. I know I am so lucky not to have had to deal with something like this in my life - but you have all helped me understand those who do, so much.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Count me in the never had a biryani club too - infact never had any Indian as I'm not good with spicy/hot/exotic food.

Light dusting of snow here too.

Cravings are really hard to deal with but when you're tired or not 100% they tend to win out. However in the past exercise has helped to keep them in check.

I've not had a biriyani thing either.... had my first takeaway when i was first with matt at about 19. My mum suffers with migraines so we've never had them.

Today has been SNOWMENTAL. It took my friend 6 hours to get from one part of my city to another(would take about 10 mins normally. Took one person 2 hours to get from blockbusters to the police station (5 minute walk). On the way home the traffic wasnt moving, i hate to think how long people have been stuck for. I've never seen the roads as icy before. Bad times!!
