    Hello all,

Thank goodness it's Friday (resisted the urge to write about chocolate bars there)!

Have felt cold, and a tad grotty today (TOTM is a pain, literally). Don't feel up to the gym, but if I feel perkier tomorrow I could always go then. I'm not going to beat myself up about it, as the workouts are going really well otherwise.

sary liking the menu, please post recipe for dyno soup:wave:

My Dynorod soup changes ever so slightly every time I make it, mainly because ingredients can be whatever I have to hand, rather than planned.

Here's a basic idea of it:

    2 tins of tomatoes
1 x tin green lentil (or dried)
1x tin mixed bean salad (or any dried beans and chickpeas instead)
    Handful of red split lentils
    4x carrots
    2 parsnips
    1 green, 1 red, 1 yellow pepper
    1 onion
    1 stick of celery
    2 leeks
    1 small swede
    1 tin of baked beans

    seasoning
    mixed herbs
    2 x stock cubes

Cover the veg with stock, and either cook in a pan on simmer until the veg is soft and cooked through, or leave in the slow cooker on low to cook.

Can be left as a chunky stew or blitz until smooth. Perfect for freezing.

Mine changes each time I make it, and this weeks was really delicious. Slight changes I made were to include a tin of mixed beans in chilli sauce, which was cheaper than the mixed bean salad. I put in a tin of chickpeas instead of baked beans. I also included some fresh tomatoes that were going a bit squigy. My secret ingredient is to use Marigold bouillon, which I love, and I also added Knorr stock granules this week, instead of using bovril or oxo cubes. It's about 1/2 syn per spoonful of those, and by the time it's been calculated into about 10 bowls of soup, the syns don't need to be counted. I do mine in the slow cooker, and just leave it to slow cook all day. I also do not put the lentils into my soup, partly because I'm not so keen on the pasty effect it can have on the broth, as I like a clearer broth, but I also read recently that reheating lentils can be a health hazard, a bit like reheating rice, which worried me from the point of view that the soup can sit in the fridge for about 5 days, with me taking a portion out each day.

It can make a surprisingly thick soup, especially when blended, so I tend to dilute mine with an extra pint of chicken stock. Add whatever herbs and spices you like. I think Betty likes to put cummin into her's, I had extra parsley in mine this time. I've also left mine chunky, but my eldest son loves it blended and extra thick, and says it's better than any can of Heinz or Baxters! If you like soup, you'll love this!

really need help! does any1 know where to buy a cheap exercise bike? i cant really afford to keep trying to go to the gym and with 2 young boys to look after i havent got the time neither.
ive been really struggling with trying to stay on track, keep eating rubbish at night out of boredom and i think if i could get a cheap exercise bike then i can go on it at night and still watch tele etc.
Now i have a freezer i am hoping that i can batch cook a bit more and buy less rubbish. My sister also gave me a few bits that she had left over from her diet chef stuff which i am trying to use but still eat rubbish all the time.
Nearly signed up to weight watchers the other day online but its more money on something that i really cant afford at the moment.
    Any help greatly appreciated!

You could try freecycle for a bike.

Hey Mandz, february is the perfect time to start looking for unwanted gym equipment in your local paper. So many people buy these things in preparation for the new years resolutions and by february are starting to regret the purchase.

You dont need a gym membership to start getting fit, even without the exercise bike. If you have two feet and a pair of trainers then you already have all the equipment that you need to go for a walk jog or run. If you have an upstairs to your house then you dont need a step machine. Or just get a fitness dvd to work out with at home maybe, once you start to know the routine, theres nothing to stop you turning the dvd off and tv back on while you jump around?

will have to get the kids to eat all the rubbish in the house to remove temptation lol.
Already checked freecycle but nothing on there

    Hi mandz

Puddings is right, a pair of trainers and its one foot in front of the other. Have you tried your local library for fitness DVD's instead of buying, then you can change your routine without it costing you a penny. I'm a big advocate of the wii. I love mine, its really helped me.

Fred starting off this month with STS. I am a bit disappointed, however I think i'm losing inches because i'm back in my small jeans.:T

I have also been powerplating and have started weight training again, so i think im gaining muscle while my flab wobbles off.:rotfl:

I must also confess that I haven't been a complete saint on my diet this week, but I'll try not to let the Scottish crew down next week.:A
