Lose Weight 31

This is why people should educate themselves and avoid the parasites like slimming world and weight watchers - simply scams designed to enslave people in complex systems designed to turn them into infants and fill their shareholders pockets.
Infants in what way? I lost 7 and half stone on WW counting points and cals, portion control and eating healthily so a very strong advocator of WW working, not sure I would call WW a parasite when it brought me back to a healthy BMI, weight and made my life a lot fuller and happier by being able to join in with the kids rather than being too fat and watching them live their life from the side lines and never really enjoying them or joining in with them:D0 -
To me SW is saying to me go to the buffet and fill your face until you are sick, no need to stop, no need to take control, no need to count cals, just keep on eating, the buffet is all yours and I keep trying to keep control but as the soup proves I have none and ate the lot:D
It isn't really saying that, it's saying don't try to give yourself a measly portion of rice, for instance, you can have lots of rice because it is filling and good for you, and to a certain point it becomes impossible to really overeat cos it is so filling. unlike sweeties, bickies and choc.
For me SW is teaching me to learn when I am full, not to limit myself and remain hungry which leads to binging.
It also teaches that nothing is off limits. If you 'ban' some food totally then you are going to want it more and go overboard when you do have it. there are some successful SW-ers who have chocolate every evening and still lose weight because SW teaches you to have some but not loads! (everything in moderation...:p)
It's not about 'controlling' your body it's about listening to it and realising that you should eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full. If you weren't full at the end of the 1st bowl of soup then you probably needed to have the second. otherwise you wouldn't have been full enough to last the afternoon without a craving for a snack or something extra. If you ate the soup simply because it was yummy, then fair enough, that was a bit greedy but at least it was healthy, home made soup packed with veg and not a bag of doritos or something that would be detrimental, and no matter why you ate it it will have filled you up and kept you full up for longer! This is why people should educate themselves and avoid the parasites like slimming world and weight watchers - simply scams designed to enslave people in complex systems designed to turn them into infants and fill their shareholders pockets.
Well that's quite a cynical view! I kind of agree that people should educate themselves, however it is an incredibly hard task to expect people to do on their own.
I for one believe that most people do know right from wrong. I, for example, know that eating fish and chips every day will make me gain weight. However, as we have discussed before on this thread, there's more to weight loss/gain than common sense - people very rarely overeat simply becuase they didnt know it was bad for them!
what WW and SW really does, is not infantise people, but give them a more user-friendly way of understanding and controlling their diet. Most people going it alone will crash diet - give up all 'bad food' and lose a few lbs, then stop and put it all back on. This is much worse for you in the long term.
SW (and WW probably but i dont know much about WW to be honest) make it simple and don't try to make you into a saint. They have flexible rules that allow for personal taste and habits, but at the same time subtly teaching you how to manage your own cravings, how to adapt your favouritie recipes to be better for you, how to plan your food and stick to it without cravings or binging....etc
I used to be wary of plans like WW and SW cos I thought they sold nonsense and were just money grabbing companies. But whether that's the case or not to be frank even if it makes one person take control, lose their excess lbs and keep it off then its a good thing in my opinion and i dont think you can put a single good/bad umbrella assumption over all diet plans or 'parasites' and the people they 'enslave' without considering why they are so successful- at the end of the day people are vulnerable, self-destructive, emotional beings and will always need help and supportBetty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

I fully agree betty
WW is more points calorie controlled and SW is more help yourself to carbs, they both work but I am not entirely convinced as an over eater, massive portion binge eater it is a diet that is good for them/me.
I know rice carbs is difficult to over eat with but it is easy to have a massive portion because you can rather than a WW balanced portion controlled calorie counted because that is what WW say to have
I agree sugar fests are the downfall of every dieter.:D Whichever one you are on not one of them is going to say eat as much of you like of that:rotfl:
It just all comes back to healthy eating, exercise, eat less, move more, loose weight simples:D
I ate all the soup because it was lush, it was there and I am greedy lol0 -

Agree.
However, SW is saying have a balanced portion - that's why they have the 1/3 superfree rule so you dont just eat a plate of rice, you eat it as part of a balanced meal with veg which also fills you up and is good for you!
And with EE you also have some meat, so it's a bit like the diagram of the plate from Home Economics class - 1/3 protein, 1/3 carbs, 1/3 veg!
Thinking about it, if you have bad reactions to carbs (insulin, calorie worries) why not try the orginal (red) plan?? that is the SW low carb option (something for everyone!)
you might get on better with that plan as you can have 2 HEBs and HEAs (for example your morning porridge with milk and a slice of bread with lunch could all be healthy extras and not synned) and you have to limit, weigh and syn carbs but not veg and meat.

NO i did not go back, got a call from the lady and she was like a dog with a bone trying to convince me and i was honest just said it wasn;t for me until she finally let it go!! :rotfl:
EE is not the easiest really they are just supposed to promote EE now cos it's the new thing
Red (original) and Green days are just as easy and have been sucessful for people for years!
It's fairly simple - red = meaty days, green = carby vegetarian days and ee = a mix of both.
Just look at the relevant pages in the book for Original and basically all you have to do is cut the carbs down, which is kind of the way you are leaning anyway!!Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

yeh i get that i just thought that they could have been a bit more explicit about it - food that is naturally low fat but high in fibre or protein is fab and they dont really mention that at all.
im still convinced that high fibre makes you constipated. missus has suffered for 30 years with it, switched to a moderate fat reduced carb diet and both as regular as a train0 -

depends if it's soluble or insoluble fibre maybe, and your body's reaction to each
