its important to have feeding days, even in the BL house they take every 6-7th day off and eat 40-50% extra cals to stop themselves going into starvation mode

    just dont get carried away

and you can eat curry with no problem, a tandori mixed grill with rice is pretty low cal for a take away

I completely agree! I've just started my weight loss journey again after gaining then losing then gaining then losing then gaining etc. I aim to eat 1200 calories a day, which I know isn't advised, but i do have days where I just think 'sod it' and eat like a pig (about once a week) because I am a binger, always have been always will be. This is why I find it difficult to get into diet mode. Although once in diet mode I can do really well, but I fear treating myself, as I cant just eat one or two biscuits, I need to eat the full packet :( so when I do 'treat' myself I make up for the lack of calories during the rest of the week.

Also anybody craving curry, there are some nice ready meals out there. It's alot easier to know how many calories and control your portion size when you have a ready meal. Or there are some nice recipes for low fat/calorie curry's. Infact anything anybody craves there is likely to be a healthier alternative

Fred, thanks, I like your attitude about the long walk.
You are absolutely right about more exercise too. Exercising does seem to keep the hunger more at bay, and Ive had a few fairly lazy days recently,so maybe thats partly the reason behind yesterdays failure?

Lexa - big hi  and welcome to the gang. Those are good reasons for wanting to lose the weight... and i like that all the first 4 reasons are for yourself with only the last reason for somebody else, rather than the other way round. Putting yourself first is the way to go! :-)

Eric - feeding days are ok if they are meant to be feeding days. and not normal days that just went out of control.
chicken tikka and tandoori chicken, thats the same thing right?

Teecee, thanks so much for the hug. i bet your arms cant reach all the way round!

Brighton Belle and Romylou, thanks for the kind comments. I do lack self discipline though big time!

I'm making chicken and veg soup this afternoon, with no salt and enough pepper to control an angry mob. Dietician appointment's on Thursday. I wonder if this time she'll have anything more constructive to say than the last time i was there "maybe try to eat more fruit and vegetables and do some extra exercise" lol

Anyway lifes not long enough to stay in the dumps so chin up and on with a better day.
...chin up, erm that should probably be chins up !

puds I agree with BB what she said, it is not the box of biscuits though is it? It is not this one time? It is the controlling of it, as a binger, a hinderence to anyone on a diet, no one can say to you just don't buy them, don't do it, stop it, that is ridiculous, we are all intelligent people that know what is right and wrong as I know that on my days when my mouth opens and will not stop eating that it is like an outer body experience but are all well aware of it, no one can blame anyone, can kick !!!, can look at you or I and say we are lesser than the rest of the people that have no food issues, we just are what we are cannot help it and we have to live in a world that has no self loathing, no hatred, no tears for the loss of control.

Please, I beg you from the bottom of my heart, look into that mirror of yours and see something you like even if it is your eyes or ankles or your left nostril anything to bring into your life the positive because you have many.

You always come across as a decent person, if loving yourself is too hard, like yourself first and please rest assured I will not let you wallow in your pool of despair, in your worst times others have had it worse, in your darker days we have been there, cyber wise we are all here for you and I will not let you fall to your knees, every time I will pick you up, you have to see for yourself you are a fantastic person.

Right then if puds is confessing so am I 2011 going to hand in my notice, can't bear the stress anymore, leaves me jobless but calmer, have realised I am in the throws of unhappiness/depression so going to see the doc and going to go to SW meeting tomorrow night.

I am going to try really hard to stay with OH to keep the family together as I watched the man next door come up with a van the second his girlfriend of 7 years left the house, piling it up high he is without her knowledge obviously, can't let that happen because of me to mine.

Watched the biggest looser last night on recorded so I can fast forward the rubbish and had to switch it off as I kept crying:rotfl: that is all I seem to do these days, will watch the rest later if the waterfalls lets me:rotfl:

Hi guys, great way to start the day is with Porridge (godlen syrup or cinnamon for me, i dont mean adding it myself its the ready mixed stuff) a sachet just over 200 cals with milk, so I round it down to 200. Or if I'm not that hungry I have a muller light, around 100 cals. I think its important to eat breakfast, gets your metabolism going. Then snack on fruit if you need to before lunch.

Also I find porridge to be good 'snack/supper', if like me you end up eating dinner early as you are hungry hungry hungry!! I end up hungry again by 8/9pm, and usually craving something sweet. Those golden syrup or cinnamon sachets are filling and sweet, and just 200 cals for something filling and sweet is brilliant! Also porridge is good for other aspects of health I think, so cant go wrong really

I am a newbie to this thread, but I like to share tips and ideas etc, so expect to see more random posts like this. It's just whatever my new 'craze' is and at the moment its porridge as you can see lol

    Oh dear.
    It is snowing again.
I have eaten a packet of biscuits.
    Oh dear.

Beanie I love your posts they are like little poems :) dont worry, as everyone has already said to puds we all have days like that. Draw a line under it and carry on as normal.
A small blip in a long term pursuit.

After this weekend I actually can't wait to get back to my usual low fat, low sugar diet - the cupcakes made my teeth ache!!
    :rotfl:

Eric - well done getting your trouser size down - It's a fab feeling and it's lovely to have a tangible result like that to keep yourself inspired and know that it is all worth it.

Victory, well done for deciding that resigning is the right move for you. i know it's hard with money worries etc but you could always get another job and you only have one life! it's important that you take care of yourself mentally as well as physically. Maybe keep an eye out for local jobs in the meatime? so you know you have some options. That way it should be less scary when you quit.

planning on going to a SW meeting tomorrow - hope it's ok I am a bit nervous esepcially since they'll be weighing me straight after this weekend of excess! But I am looking forward to getting the latest books and info so I can really do it properly.

  • Hi lexa34

I can understand where you are completely I was in a similar place 1yr exactly....... Now a few pounds lighter I can try give you a couple of words of advice.
I have not done SW WW or RC or any diet clubs etc.... I have changed my diet completely and watched my calorie intake. Start off with a food diary, write everything you eat in the diary AS SOON AS YOU EAT IT!!! If you wait until the end of the day you will forget and that is where those few extra calories add up to a poor loss.

Exercise wise I started off by walking, going for a walk when ever I could, a 10 min stroll is not sat on your bottom and will burn off some calories. Then keep going a little longer and a little further. In these dark winter months if the sun is out get outside as it will help you feel better :D

Enough waffle from me..... Good luck with your journey everyone here will be with you all the way and along with lots more advice if you need it
