Ashes are over, im sad. Im tired as hell though, being staying up late to watch bits of it!! I fell asleep on the sofa this eve!!
Betty: Its your birthday, you're allowed a small toast session!! Have a wonderful day tomorrow
I'm not doing too bad, still no chocolate but i'm not being as good. I need to get myself in line and get back to the gym!0 -
Happy birthday Betty! Hope you have a great day.

Well I'm officially off the wagon (and on the vodka, lol). It's been a stressful day; I almost crashed my car this morning, twice! Very scary!
Lots of other things going on as well so, although I've been eating reasonably healthily, I've given up on the calorie counting for today. I'll be back on track tomorrow though and hope to spend time cooking some meals to go in the freezer for next week, as I won't have much time for cooking for a while.
I was chatting to a friend today who is on the Atkins diet. I'm quite wary of that diet although I quite like the theory behind low carb diets (doing one would also make my life a lot easier as I have to count DS's carbs anyway). Is anyone on a low carb diet who can give me a little advice?
The main thing that worries me about them is the whole ketone thing (although I don't know much about it) as they are supposed to be pretty dangerous, for diabetics anyway. Is that not a worry for non-diabetics, or is that just the risk you take to lose weight? Also, how low do you have to go, carb wise for the diet to be effective? I think I'd find it quite tough to eliminate almost all carbs from my diet, and I'm not wholly convinced that it's a healthy way to eat.0 -

Its perfectly natural there are several even recent "tribes" of people because of there geological locations have lived on carb free diets, it does make you feel blugh for first month as your body adjusts
Regardless of what atkins implies it is still cals in and cals out, what atkins did not know and that we now do is that protein is an appetite suppressant, and you eat a lot of protein on it.
Personally I do not buy the whole it takes ages to go into ketosis argument of his diet, most people go into ketosis every night during there sleep and i certainly do it every time i exercise (acetone breath)
controlling carbs has been a big part of my huge weight loss but i do not go as extreme as atkins, i generally stick to 33% of my intake as carbs and make sure they are slow release low GI carbs. My glucose levels are pretty even and I stopped getting carb cravings after 3 weeks.
This video of actual research results is very interesting on the effectiveness of a reduced carb diet

Its not perfect, he ignores the critical development of humans cooking food for the last 2 million years but the biological info is very relevant.0 -
well it looks like this "man flu" i reported feeling is slowly starting to come out after what 6 weeks?? chest is a little raw, throat is a little sore and my temp is 37.5, its still not going full beans thou
at this rate i should be in full swing of the germs by easter
on the plus size i now have some normal XL trousers !! down from XXXXXXXXL ! tops still need to be 2-3 XL because of the apron overhang and i think only surgery will get rid of that, oh and my 50" chest lol0 -
Eric you must be a shadow of your former self now. I really hope you'll post some before/after pics when you've reached the end of your journey. I think your comments re. atkins sum it all up really; half the problem is that people embark upon diets and new faddy ways of each without a clue how, or even why it will work. The manufacturers use words like 'healthy', 'replacement', 'substitute', 'low fat', and we rarely question them. It's only when you look at the ingredients, or the principles on how you eat them (ie. replace a meal with a shake/bar, the fat is replaced with sugar, or they shove caffeine into something). We get fooled into thinking that they have our health at heart, but in reality they only have profits on their mind. I'm just as guilty as the next person for buying muller lights, or fat free activia yogurts, because I like to have the occasional flavoured yogurt, instead of only natural, and they're convenient, but after vowing to cook all my sauces from scratch last year, I'm now quite dubious of the jars/packs of sauces, because they have higher oil/sugar/salt content than anything I'd cook.
Right, well I've not exactly decided what my mealplan is for today, but I'm thinking I might make some homemade burgers later. I've bought some gherkins especially for them, to give them a bit of a kick.... I just hope the rest of the family like them.
Happy Birthday Betty! Have a lovely day.One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Many happy returns Betty -- I can't remeber being 25, it was sooooooo long ago but I'm quite sure it was fun. (Maybe that's why I don't remember it too well??)0

Happy Birthday Betty.
25 is an awesome age, old enough to know what you want but young enough to not worry about how its gonna happen.
Enjoy your day
