my heart rate was about 170 today.
there's nothing quite like getting the car insurance renewal through to give your heart a good workout ;-)
De1amo - 11kg well done, it's all in the right direction so whatever you're doing, keep doing it, was laughing at your comment "am married and dont drink much alcohol"... Round here, being married is usually a reason to drink more alcohol, lots more, and in a "vodka on the cornflakes" sort of way too. Something to do with escaping from reality whatever that means ;-)
Ah im lucky, my mum and dad pay for that! Theyve paid it for like 6 years now, kinda embarassing really. I said when i get a full time job i'd take it over but it hasnt quite happened.
Gunna get a new car next year, im reluctant because my citroen was my 18th birthday persent but now things are going wrong with it and i want to be in a new car again.0 -

I have gradually worked up to 130-140 over the last 4 weeks, worried about going higher with the condition ..
Is that what it means then? Cos thats a lie, im no where near fit. Im not even running on the treadmill to get to that heart rate. Maybe theres drugs in the gym water!!!0 -

as a rough guide your max HR is 220 less your age so if your 30 it would be 190
assuming your 30 a HR of 170 would put you at 89% of your max which is the top of the Anerobic zone

so your either fit, the equipment is dodgy, or your in AFib like I was0 -
i ran my heart at 170 last time i went to the gym--im 47 --i felt very unwell for a couple of days after--i came out of an hour of weights and then did 30 minutes at 170bpm in the cardio--last time i do that!!--has put me right off the gym!!!--i have a hrm to observe the agony!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

ok so my max is 196. Im well off the max at 170. Still, feel quite good about that!! No wonder i find it hard to work out at the fat burning zone, i can never keep my heart rate low enough to maintain it. Well, perhaps im fitter than i think i am and i should push myself a bit more.
Happy days!0 -

not really, your bod needs fuel to work, (note this is massively over simplified) its first choice is glycogen stored in your muscles from all those lovely carbs you eat, after that's gone it turns to fat burning (which is not as efficient, i seam to remember its 3 oxygen for fat to 1 oxygen for glycogen), any activity after the glycogen is gone will result in fat burning, the longer you work and / or the higher the intensity the more stored energy you will use
the main zones are aerobic and anaerobic in anerobic exercise lactic acid starts to build up so can not be sustained for long periods, for you the optimum HR for a mix of cardio and fat burning is around 135-140 mark, however the harder and longer you go the more energy your will use.
my max is 177 and i trained for 40 mins this morning in the 145-155 range with out much problem, i could have pushed a lot harder but I am still "breaking in" my heart after the cardioversion0 -
fell those breakfast biscuits we have them all the time because they are not a commercial success and everywhere you go they are 1/2 price but we never have them for breakfast, OH says it is ridiculous to think you would have 4 biscuits and then not want anything until lunch time that it would not work and he is not prepared to starve his way to lunch time on 4 bikkies, so we have them in the evenings, in their lunch boxes, with a cuppa but not for breakfast, they are lovely I like the plain ones and they like the fruit ones so bonus but I can't see that they would be enough for breakfast, say if you had 4 digestives would you be walking around going 'crumbs I am so full':rotfl::rotfl:
I know they have slow energy release but even so
Thats what I thought, I am usually a Special K red berries kinda person for breckie, but having read about it just being full of sugars i wondered if having a change might stop me from coming over all shakey if I was late getting lunch, especially if I have been out and about doing something. I have tried them now for the past two days and noticed that I don't feel wierd and shakey by lunch time, in fact I have pushed lunch back nearly an hour, because I am just not hungry. Very wierd for me, I am a 12 noon lunch kinda girl!! Well as they were half price I got two boxes, so will see how I feel after have finished them all. Erm not all in one go I hasten to add! :rotfl:You never know how strong you are until you have no other option.0 -
doesnt the changing of the season's hour corrupted everything --including the time you get hungry at lunch time--takes some adjusting to---12noon is the old 1pm--so your lucnhing at 1pm is in old time 2pm!!---i stopped special k because of the sugars and went onto nestle musli which i am sure is as sugar laden but my eyes wont let me see the small print--i had an op on my eyes which limits me at the moment and in turkey they really diminsh the reality!!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

lol thanks De1amo, I hadn't though about that side of things!!You never know how strong you are until you have no other option.0

your welcome---the older i get you would think i would adjust to these changes easier-lots of practice! but its to the contrary i am feeling tired 2 hours later than normal and getting up earlier and the rest of the day is just as chaotic--where i live the sun is bright and relatively warm so my hybernation mode doesnt kick in when it should--it doesnt ever get as dull as the uk and only around xmas do you really need the heating on during the day--it does help with the dieting but has damaged my eyes--i had glaucoma in my left eye.mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0
