My parents kept all our lego and playmobil, i have now given it to my stepson who was over the moon when he saw much we had!!
i think its brilliant and can be passed down the generations.
I wouldn't be concerned about re-sale value, kids toys shouldnt be bought with an eye to selling them a few years later! having them around brings back many happy childhood memories. i guess all parents just need big lofts!

We bought the dragon castle for my son's 5th birthday last week. He hasn't stopped playing with it yet.
  • Great stuff, had it when I was a kid (got some from friends in Germany even before it was in the UK I think). Bought quite a lot for my kids, a lot off ebay, and actually reselling that stuff now on ebay!

If money and space were no issue I would keep it and buy more.......and I'm in my 40s!!!!

There is playmobil 1-2-3 for the younger kids - simpler with no small bits, still excellent quality.

Dunno about Duplo, but certainly Lego and Playmobil... :) so much so I've been looking for the sets I had as a kid to stick away in the loft for when Little Miss is old enough!

  • I should say, in my defence about the resale, that we've moved countries three times already since having children and there's a likelihood we may move again!

I got the Playmobil Doll House for Christmas when I was 5 (I'm now 25!) and all of the furniture/vehicle sets were collected over the following years and it's now in my parent's garage waiting for my children! I'm quite embarrassed to admit that it took until I was about 18 to actually put the house away as I loved it so much! It really lasts and it's so easy to play with but surprisingly detailed, I learnt all sorts about the 'olden days' from my Playmobil sets! It's lucky that I have kept it all because a lot of the stuff I had has now been discontinued, it's nice to think that my children will play with a great 'vintage' set that their friends won't have.
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Playmobil is fantastic. We had loads of it when we were wee. It never broke, still looks brand new and it was the most played with stuff.

Now it's waiting up in the loft for us to pass down, I hope it lasts forever :rotfl:

Certain toys stand the test of time my children still have Archer and Chip from Small Soldiers and as I am 46 I think I will put Buzz Lightyear on to my Christmas list ;o)))
