We had the same problem with the weather forecast here No Money. Hope you manage to get the boot sale done soon.

There's nothing like a Mum's roast is there!

  • Typically here, the one weekend that there is no planned bootfair we have lovely weather - I think it is destined not to be. Still, a nice child free weekend in our household mean't no spending was done.

It was my aunt's 50th so we went out to her party, dropping the kids off at the in laws early afternoon to allow the good lady time to get ready. Then Sunday I had football so earned some pocket money there before going to the inlaws for free Sunday roast.
  • HIya Nomoney
I'm all for making money and getting a free Sunday lunch :)

Glad you had a happy weekend. Hows the debt-busting going? Are you beginning to see it falling a bit?

    Take care

  • Hi ebayqueen - it seems to be going ok, I checked my CC statements for the first time in a few months this month and notices that between them I have nearly £400 credit which suggests I am doing something right as when I started this I had maxed them all out.

I have also amassed £150 in savings since being back refereeing, but am looking to save that for Christmas presents so that is being kept locked away in a jar at home, and I am hoping to have nearer £400 come Christmas which will then allow me to put atleast half towards the debts as well.

Things seem to be going well at the moment, but am going to keep quiet until the end of October as the Car is due an MOT/Tax Renewal and new insurance before then and don't want to jinx matters.

You're doing really well No Money, and the savings from refereeing should give you a nice money neutral christmas.

    Fingers crossed for the car!

  • Thanks - to be fair the car should be fine, we've only had it a year and we only really use it at weekends, and my wife 1 maybe 2 times a week to get to and from work if she is on a different shift to my mum.

Saying that, I got my insurance renewal through and some how they have deemed it necessary, despite no accidents, and a further years no claims to increase my premium by £200! I don't think I will be with them next year. So will be looking through quidco and comparison websites for some good deals this weekend.

Wife was paid today, so she can now call the Tax Office to get her rebate sorted - they have had her on emergency tax for the last 4-months so she should be due a little bit of a windfall to assist towards Christmas presents (oh, and my birthday in 3-weeks).
  • Another weekend complete which saw us manage to sell some of the childrens old nursery furniture which was nice on two fronts, one because we got some much needed cash and two it freed up some much needed space.

My wife has informed the Tax Office they owe her money, so they will be writing to her telling her how much and hopefully sending her a cheque. We've guessed what she should be getting, based on her taxed amounts on emergency tax and what she got taked on the same earnings this month, and works out roughly about £100 p/m.

I have a meeting with my Ops Manager today regarding my progression (basically the meeting I requested when I felt I was "overlooked" for the management role a few months back)... I know, efficient here aren't we.
  • I thought I would provide an update following my previously mentioned meeting today - let's just say it didn't have the intended response that I was expecting. I was expecting the usual, the person we went for had previous management experience, however, what I got was:

"The reason why you were overlooked is because we are currently re-evaluating yours (and others) position and we will be meeting again next week to decide of your services are required or if you will be offered the chance to leave (redundancy)!"

That came out of the blue! Not sure if I should disclose the shock to my wife tonight, or wait to see what they say when we meet again next week!

Oh .No Money, what an awful shock! That really stinks. I hope things work out ok.

  • Thanks - it has come as a bit of a shock, but not as much as it shocked my wife when I told her. I am hoping all will be ok but you never know. I haven't been out of work since I left university so won't know what to do, let alone find another job, on similar money locally, I work at the only insurance company in the area, and the next nearest is an hours train ride away!

Still, it's almost the weekend, I won't dwell on it too much as it will spoil the time off with the family.
