Afternoon all - Im here, in body more than anything.
Sorry for the lack of updates, unfortunately, I have been really ill, since the arrival on the cat to the family it would appear tha I am allergic to the little thing. Not mildly allergic either - severe enough to warrant a free stay in our lovely local hospital.
Initially I suspected hay fever, but when nothing started helping I went back to the doctors who diagnosed a chest infection (as mentioned in previous posts). This didn't clear, and when I was barely able to breath earlier in the week I went back to the doctors where the eventual diagnosis was given. That will teach me.
Still, I am out now, suffering with reduced lung capacity and severe breathing difficulties and staying at my parents (who are away) until little Poppy is rehomed (hopefully this weekend).
If nothing else, it has been a relatively good NSW because of it...every cloud and all.0 -
Oh, that's such a shame about the allergy. What a nightmare that must have been. Hope you are feeling better now though."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Hi all.
I'm slowly getting back to normal, eventually managed to convince the in laws to take Poppy off our hands, so the kids still get to see her every week which is probably the best result for us as I couldn't have coped with having to take her back to the sanctuary.
Short working week for me to, after tomorrow it's an extended Bank Holiday and a well deserved week off work. Might consider taking the little ones away as I've barely seen them and I feel guilty about taking their cat away!0 -
That's nice of the in-laws to take the kitten, I bet it would have been upsetting to take her back.
Looking forward to the long weekend!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Hi Nomoney
Have been away on holiday and only seen your posts. I am sorry to hear that you have been so unwell. That is a very severe reaction. Take care of yourself and take the rest when you are getting it.
God bless

Good morning all.
I hope we are all well and enjoyed a nice Bank Holiday weekend? I've had a nice week long break to recover from my illness and also to recharge the batteries and spend some time with the family.
Not quite feeling 100% yet but almost back to normal, partly my fault I guess as didn't lay off the refereeing like I probably should have but hey ho, I needed the additional income.
Pay day came early due to the BH and have so far managed to avoid touching it (aside from the bills and card payments). Now that I am back to regular football (1 game a week until the 10th September when it's 2) I shouldn't need to break into the wages until October (wifes birthday) and then Christmas - although planning to start Christmas shopping early this year as and when I see the bargains.0 -
Money saving this weekend unfortunately didn't happen as I would have liked. Starting with the positives, back to full season football so had my league opener which was swiftly followed by a second game due to another referee falling ill, so that was bonus additional income.
Now for the not so good - an outlay of nearly £200 in quick succession this weekend as early Saturday morning the girls wardrobe decided to give up the ghost and collapsed into a pile of wood. It lasted a long time, our eldest is 5 now and we got it when she was born so cannot really complain about that. So, a new wardrobe (of adult size was purchased to allow space for both their growing clothes collections).
This was followed by an essential purchase, but one we were hoping to save until nearer the end of the year. We have been wanting a dining table (now we have finally sorted the kitchen), so that we could all eat together as a family rather than using the breakfast bar. We got the Argos sale brochure in the paper on Saturday which had the table we wanted half price, so we took the plunge and purchased it now, rather than later.
It just means we need to tighten our belts a little this month, what with the cars tax, MOT and insurance due at the end should be entertaining!0 -
The gloomy weather here is putting pay to any attemps to clear the build up of junk in the NoMoney household as any plans to hold a bootfair get ruined by horrible forecasted weather - I probably should use the many signs being offered to either a) throw it on ebay or b) throw it out completely but haven't got around to doing that just yet, maybe I should combine A & B and if it doesn't sell on ebay then chuck it.
Still, because of the horrible weather we haven't spent anything, and actually making some minor savings - potty training our youngest has gone alot better than expected and we now do not need to buy anymore nappies meaning a small saving of around £6 per week, and with school being back the children now get fed at either my parents or the in laws twice a week (weekdays) meaning less food shopping is required.
It all adds up in the long run, doesn't it?0 -
I can sympathise with the weather, it keeps destroying our plans too!
Well done on the potty training, and all those meals elsewhere certainly count too! Those small savings soon add up."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
The plan to do a bootfair on Saturday was called off on Friday night because the weatherman forecast horrible weather, and Saturday turned out to be fantastic. That was rather annoying. That leaves us with 2 more weeks to get one in.
Sunday after football we went to my mums for Sunday roast. My dad is away with his friends mountain climbing in Wales so we went to keep her company, and I love my mums roasts.
Back to work today though and the weather is horrible, blowing a gale, I am sure we were supposed to miss the outer edges of the hurricane, but I am sure we haven't. Still, horrible weather means no impulse shopping chances at lunch time.
Plans for this week include:
1) Building the Childrens new wardrobe
2) Building the newly delivered kitchen table
3) Get a bootfair in
4) Buy mums birthday present0
