No Money, thats No Good!

Hi guys.
Thanks for the kind messages. Nothing new to report I am afraid, as I am still job hunting!
I have been fortunate enough to have been loaned some money (long term) by my nan so I can survive until the end of November before it becomes despeate.
The issue I have is because of my profession I will need to travel to stay within the industry, and because of that many people are sceptical of this and wary about employing someone who will need to make atleast an hour long commute to and then from work, so try and look for someone more local.
I have set myself a goal to have a job come the end of this month, even if this means taking a Christmas job in a local department store until the New Year and things change.

Good to hear from you NM

You seem to have a good positive attitude towards all this and all will work out for you. Something will turn up for you. Will be thinking and praying for you.
God bless

It's been a long while since I posted here, so thought I would provide all with a little update. Firstly, I do hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and eagerly awaiting the new year.
Now, back to business. I am now back in employment. I finally got another job in my field at the beginning of December after 2-months out of work. Fortunately I was able to survive thanks to a generous advance on my inheritance from my nan. Not that I am expecting her to pass anytime soon, but she basically said, that if I don't repay it, then it will be deducted on what I would have received anyway.
So, started my new job, it's not ideal, as its a 75 minute drive every morning, so basically leaving at 7am and getting back 12 hours later, however, I am now £3,000 better off in terms of salary (before travel costs, but I car share, so it isn't too hectic). I also get quarterly company performance bonuses, which can add an additional £4,000 to my salary if we all perform well.
However, shortly after accepting the job, and a week before Christmas I was approached (have an interview tomorrow) by another firm, eager to obtain my services, and offer me a 50% pay rise on what I was on at my old firm. The travel distance is the same as what I am currently doing, so potentially, come the start of 2012 I could be in a healthy position work wise, and have a potentially good income to aid my debt recovery, which, until recently was stagnant.

Hi all, thanks for the kind words. The interview I attended was successful, so good in fact they offered me the job, with a better salary and 10% 6 monthly bonus withing an hour of me getting home.
I start the 2nd week of January and cannot wait. Prior to me losing my job we were coping ok financially, and making slow in roads into our debt. Now I have this new, and much better paid job we should be able to make a significant impact into our debt, providing we don't try and enjoy the additional finances.
I will feel slightly bad about returning to work on Tuesday and informing them of my decision to leave so soon, but, as my wife pointed out. It is not everyday someone makes you an offer that is too good to turn down, and if you don't take it, you will always be wondering what if. Plus, with a young family, it's the sort of money you cannot overlook, and I am hoping that they will see this and accept my decision without any hard feelings.

Congratulations! That's fantastic news. I can understand you feeling bad, but you do have to do what's best for you and your family.

Thanks for the kind words all.
Letter is written for tomorrow, going to do it first thing. There is also the chance that they won't make me work my notice given that, having started just before Christmas I don't officially have a workload, so they may not want me to start anything, and therefore let me go early to avoid me being a spare part.
Also, I live over an hour from the office, so they may see it that there is no reason for me to continue coming in for the remainder of the week knowing I have nothing to do workwise. I guess we shall see tomorrow.
