I've just read your whole diary and I'm really pleased it's working out so well for you. How you manage to spend so little is inspirational and you seem to have a happy and productive life with your family. Well done! Keep it up!0

Update time - Handed in my notice on Tuesday, the mood changed as soon as I did so, but I didn't care. Left there and then and start my new job on Monday and cannot wait - decent money rolling in once more.
Which is good as I am seriously out of funds now, and went, for the first time ever to the wife cap in hand to borrow some to prevent me going above my overdraft! Still, once I am settled all will be ok again and we can start making serious inroads into our debt.
Aim for 2012 is to clear atleast 50% of our debt, which should be achieveable with one of the loans ending in June, and the additional earnings above what I was earning before the problems started will allow for significant payments.
We want to upsize to a 3 bedroom house (as we have 2 kids) by the end of 2013, and this should allow us to start building a deposit.

Evening all, and thanks for all the nice comments from old and new readers!
I've settled in nicely to my new office, and it's like I have been there for years already. The journey is easier than I expected to, and now I am home well before the kids go to bed - in fact, it's about the same time that I used to get home when I worked in my old job, and this time I have an hr commute too!
As my office is in the middle of nowhere now I don't go out at lunch and waste money on take away lunches, magazines etc anymore so that is saving me a small fortune, although I have taken up reading alot (Andy McNab and Chris Ryan books mainly) which is a hobby I didn't think I would take too!
I was paid for my brief employment last week and for some reason they gave me a full months wages even though they didn't make me work my notice. I checked with them that it wasn't and error and they assured me that it was not. So, with that being "bonus" money to me I have used it to pretty much clear 1 of my smaller credit card debts - happy 2012 to me!
I sat down with my wife last week to plan how we would tackle our payments, and if I am paid what I expect after deductions, as well as potential on top (not factored in) for incentives and bonuses I believe I could clear all 4 of my CC's this year - thats in an ideal world obviously.
However, one aim is to get a 2nd car - we have been able to get by with 1 until now, but with me needing a car daily for work it means my wife has to rely on lifts to and from work, and that isn't always possible. So we are looking at getting a small run around for her when things settle in a few months.
