Chev - thanks for popping by and the kind words.

Things are moving very slowly, and although I've worked an exceptional number of hours already this year, progress has been really small due to my wife being out of work, but things will start to pick up nicely, and I have earmarked atleast 2 cards to be cleared by the end of this year (and that's without stretching ourselves).

If we manage to get a well deserved promotion then hopefully even more will be cleared.

Good morning all - had a fantastic weekend, the sun is shining and it's pay day tomorrow - what a nice start to the week (well apart from suffering heavily with hay fever!).

The wedding this weekend was superb, the weather, although it didn't rain wasn't the greatest with it overcast for the most part (but still nice and warm). However, the bride & groom catered well for everyone even setting up adult and childrens bouncy castle in the grounds for all to enjoy.

My 2-year old has earned a new nickname as the duracell bunny after non-stop dancing from 6 till 11! Everyone was expecting her to sleep in her buggy in the corner but she just kept going - made even worse by the fact she woke up, no problems at 7 the following morning (let's say daddy wasn't ready to be awake at that time!).

Still, it was a NSW as well as I opted to drive so my wife could drink (it was her sisters wedding day after all) and the B&G made a deal with the hotel that drivers could drink free (RESULT!).

Heres hoping for a lot of warm weekends this month so we can get alot of NSW's in by enjoying the sunshine at the park - plus also want to try and make a bootfair so we can clear loads of outstanding junk from the house!

Glad you enjoyed the weekend, what a lovely gesture of the bride and groom to let drivers drink for free!

I bet your daughter was adorable being the dancing queen!

It was a very nice gesture indeed which was fitted in nicely with the theme which was mainly aimed at pleasing everyone else and the Charlie & the Chocolate Factory theme was very good - not had an everlasting gobstopper in years until Saturday!

She loved the attention, and I must say (even if a little biased) she looked adorable. I can't wait for the photo's to be published as will definitely want to get a couple of the pair of them in their bridesmaid dresses.

Good Morning all - another really warm day here which isn't really helping my hay fever too much but hey ho.

Today was pay day, and whilst normally I would like this day I finally decided to work out how much of my pay I pay out in debt payments (mortgage, and minimum payments on all my debt) and I was shocked to realise that 84% of my monthly salary is spent on this!

So, as you can tell, money is really tight, and if it wasn't for the overtime I can undertake our wouldn't be in a position to make an impact on this - boy do I need the football season to restart so that I can start refereeing again to bring in some much needed extra income.

How does your debt to wages ratio work out?

A little quiet here at the moment.

A nice relaxing day off for me yesterday and it would appear my hay fever is now settling so I can begin to enjoy the warm weather (cue perfect time for it to end). My wife had the same day off work as me so we had a nice family stroll (with the youngest) around the town before stopping off for one of McDonald's new double choc milkeshakes (a little indulgence, but highly recommended!).

We have both agreed that we will do a minimal spend month and see what we can achieve, we chose July as we expect it to be really nice weather so there is scope to do plenty of free family activites - and this weekend we are meeting up with a family friend and her little one to visit the park then our eldest's school is having a Summer Fayre (also free), which we are going to attend.

I liked your idea of doing the debt ratio - I just worked mine out to be just shy of 80% I thought it would be lower than that, so it was a shock. I did count my actual payments rather than the minimums, but I don't think it would make much of a difference.

Can't wait til all that is mine again!

Hi jwil - it's scary isn't it seeing that amount of your hard earned cash being thrown away. I guess in hindsight you would do things differently knowing full well what you do now.

Annoyingly though, how much of that debt ratio is actually paying back the money you actually spent - and how much of it is not interest, or interest on the interest.

I'm 30 in 16-months and my plan is to have halved my debt by this time - it should be doable - I have aims to have completely cleared 1 CC by November, and with my annual bonus in Feb I should clear a second.

One of the loans ends at this point next year and the loan we currently pay my mum has just been restructured by her so by keeping my current repayments as they are to her this should quickly reduce the balance. This is my target - to have under £10,000 debt by the time I hit 30.
