That's brilliant! Why don't more schools do it - I'm sure there would be a lot more working parents if they did.

Currently, we think when we have our second (sooner rather than later as we don't want too much of an age gap) I will start working nights (6-midnight) 5 nights a week in some sort of supermarket, we worked out that would mean we rely on the least amount of tax credits (never want to rely on them again as they go down so much), we have the highest "spare" money (more than I have now - only works that way with 2 though) and I get to spend more time with the child(ren).

Our eldest (almost 5 now) went to a nursery in town and that was a nightmare so were preparing ourselves to send our youngest there, only for someone to mention to my wife the existence of this pre-school (it also has a nursery but they are over subscribed due to their Ofsted scores).

Wouldn't working nights 5-nights a week severely run you down, let alone limit your time with the new arrival (unless of course your planning on waiting until they are a year old or something). I hate all the tax credits, as you never know what is happening with them. Not a fan of the people who have young children and won't work and will rely on benefits (young families) and then publicise the fact on FB (we have a few of them around here).

Oh, I forgot to add. A little update on my job application - not expecting an outcome this week, so likely to be a development next week apparently.

I would do the 5 nights instead of day job :)

Fingers crossed you hear (good) news soon

I hope we all enjoyed our Bank Holiday weekend, mine was extended slightly as I took Friday off too. The weather here was horrible, it only rained yesterday but we had strong winds for the remainder so didn't really venture out much. My wife worked yesterday and was away all day Saturday and Sunday morning on her sisters hen do, so I was on single daddy duty all weekend - but tried to keep spending to a minimum.

Spent all day Saturday in the garden with my brother getting that sorted as best as possible, and although not anywhere near finished looks a hell of alot better.

All bills for this coming month paid already (only got paid Friday so not bad) and left myself really tight this month (if I keep to my strict £10 p/w non essential spend). Also, should hear about my application this week (although not expecting it to be this week if I am honest).

Good morning all. I hope we had a good weekend. Seems to have gone a little quiet here recently.

My weekend was entertaining if a little painful, it was my brother in law to be's stag do, which mean't we headed to a fun packed day of clay pigeon shooting and archery, all very good fun, but I now have severe shoulder bruising and a massive bruise on my arm where I got attacked by the string of my bow.

Finance wise, nothing to report - the money spent at the weekend was saved so I didn't spend anything I wasn't expecting to - in fact, I didn't spend as much as expected which was a nice bonus.

Still waiting to hear about my job application.

Ouch to the bruising! Glad you had a good time though and well done for spending less!

Hope you hear about the job soon.

They're dragging it out a bit aren't they? Have you had any indication when you will hear?

Dragging things out is something my company has perfected over time. The stupidest thing is, the outgoing manager gave her months notice that she was leaving, yet they did not start advertising until after she had left. I was interviewed 4-weeks ago this Thursday and still heard nothing.

I spoke to the Ops Director yesterday and he said we will (as in definitely will) hear this Thursday, and the delay was because he was burgled and had the sign off sheet stolen along with his work stuff (not sure how that can delay things further, given that they had already agreed sign off).

If I don't get it then it's the longest delay to a rejection i've ever had anyway.

Isn't it just! Sad he got burgled though, maybe he didn't read the sign off sheet first and forgot who it was :rotfl:

Still have my fingers crossed for you - tell them to hurry up as they are starting to cramp :D

Well, finally got my feedback on my job application this evening, and as expected I was unsuccessful. What hurt the most is that they made no effort to hide the suggestion that the decision had already been made prior to my interview.

They advised that the qualifying work I did was the best of the applicants, it must have been so good as they are implementing all 3 of the ideas I proposed in my work.

They gave some half hearted reason that they didn't think I would be able to detach myself from being a work colleague and friend to my colleagues to becoming their boss! I was quick to politely inform them that I had been, without any issues or challenges stepped up into the roll for the last 6-weeks so it clearly wouldn't be an issue. A step up, that apparently had been overlooked by the interviewing panel.

Well, it has left me questioning if I have a future here as they clearly have no interest in my progression up the management ladded (even citing my importance to my current role).

Thanks for all the positive vibes and kind words to this point, but I don't know why I am annoyed by it, as I said from the offset, my face doesn't fit within their management team.
