  • OK we have baby stuff out of attic, clothes in the wash. Think we have enough that isn't pink in case its a boy. Did have a lovely snooze, and DH has unearthed some coach bolts (don't ask!!) for the garage doors which our fab neighbour is coming to fix tomorrow - the other end from last week!

Leftovers from DDs dinner made into DH's lunch for tomorrow, but some ironing still to do. Will probably get some bedside tables for our bedroom off ebay, local pick-up, looks like being £20 the pair. We have only been without them since...all our time together...it will be lovely to put coffee/books on.

  • Got the bedside tables, £13 each. But not a very good morning, yet again I am a victim of the "pilton hilton" Don't read if you are of a nervous disposition...or about to go there for an op.

Took DD2 to her ENT appt, getting there on time. Bear in mind its a 40 mile round trip, £2 parking, at least £7 diesel.

Sit there for 30 minutes past the appointment time, speak nicely to the receptionist, who assures me we are next.

An hour later, get called in for hearing test, now there is nothing at all wrong with DD's hearing, we are only here to humour the GP before we are sent to the correct dept of the hosp, and now I no longer have time for seeing consultant AND hearing test, only one or the other.

So I say "she doesn't need a hearing test, please check her records, you have never found any problem with her ears or her hearing, just get us in to see the consultant please.

Cue some faffing about, we go in to see the WRONG consultant, not the one the GP wrote on the referral right before my eyes, and this is important as he is the only one there we have met that we have any faith in (DD1 is also a conoisseur of the ENT dept).

Cue cursory look in ears, you need a hearing test, you can have one right now...fine I say if it can be right now...sit in waiting room another 15 min, we are now an hour and 30 minutes past appointment time...no hearing test.

Ask receptionist nicely...oh someone has gone in ahead of you as you said you didn't need a test, I don't know when it will be.

So we had to leave- couldn't leave puppy any longer, DD2 had missed the morning session of pre-school, lunch club which I pay for (more money wasted) and because she hadn't had any lunch, she had to have that when we got home, so too late for the afternoon session.

I wouldn't mind, but there is no way her problem is related to hearing loss or glue ear, and there is no acceptance at all that the parents of one child with hearing loss would not know if their second child suffered with it also.

On the up side, the garage doors are fixed.

Sounds a really rubbish morning. Least you are home now and hopefully completed enough steps to make the GP do the next thing.
  • I really think that we will have to go back to the blessed ENT department...

  • Morning all. Had another builder round to look at work on the house last night. A plan is forming. Had a complete melt down last night and a row with DH over, basically nothing.

    That bodes well!!

I am planning on doing nothing but walking the dog today. Oh and rearranging DH's probate appointment.

  • Right, dog walk done, with some bonus socialisation (one golden retriver and two English setters), probate interview rearranged.

Puppy is doing well with her training, she can sit more often than not and comes when she is called. Did a poo on the kitchen floor this morning though.

  • I have met my aims today and done sweet F.A. Just caught puppy going upstairs for an emergency poo...one nil to me!!

Feeling a lot better having slept two and a half hours this afternoon. DDs have gone to granny and grandpa for dinner, so all is quiet and serene.

Need to crack on with my plans for world domination now...NSD today, which is good, and plan to collect bedside tables Saturday pm, or at least send DH to.

  • And giving up eating the childrens' leftovers for Lent, terrible habit. Anyone else giving up something?

  • Busy day planned today. After one day of indolence, there is now a washing mountain as well as an ironing mountain. HOW?

DH's birthday jersey from Racing Green (sale, natch) has fallen apart after one wash at the underarm seam. Not good, its going back.

My replacement at work has been a bit naughty and has been going around flapping about whether I have entered kids for coursework resits...naughty as she was suggesting I hadn't....and she was sitting with me when I did it so I could show her how to do it online. Grr, this will backfire on her, since the woman in charge chose to email me to ask instead of trying to get any sense out of my replacement...it is only her second week!

Into primary school this morning, dog walk, washing, Dad coming to put up DD1's new curtains and the baby gate to stop a certain little lady doing emergency poos upstairs where she thinks no-one will notice. Mr S and then DH home early, one hopes!

Also have to complain about ENT department and arrange sending back this jersey. Exhausted already!
