Any advice on what your little one was like or helped in recovery (e.g. anything that made you feel less guilty) would be much appreciated. :D

Put an Elizabethan collar on her and reinforce it with silver gaffer (?) tape from the outset, they hate them, but you will hate taking her back to the vet with a reopened wound (happened with my last dog).

Recovery has been impressively quick, can't help with the guilt (except imagine parting with 9 baby Belles).
What did you decide to do about the BTL you were considering in the end?

Decided we couldn't quite afford it and so didn't want the stress. It hasn't gone on the market anyway.

I don't envy you the laundry... WM and DW tested while my dad was here... DW outlet is persistently slightly damp so may need some tape to help the jubilee clip grip, WM overflowed as I put too much detergent in with too little washing :o but now seems to be OK. I've emptied and cleaned the filter so need to fill it and empty it and I can then do my week's worth of washing (a lot less than yours), paint the bits that were missed in the little bedroom and start moving stuff around the house again to get ready for next week (stairs/landing/hall decorating Mon/Tue and possibly Wed; spare room plastering Thurs/Fri). At some point I have to do some work and pack for my work trip...

My mum planted a whole lot of bulbs this morning, and apparently my dad is going to fix the back door if he can borrow a chisel from my brother tomorrow...

  • greenbee you are doing better than me, I defrosted the freezer for the first time in (er...three years) and flooded the kitchen floor. Fortunately it's bare concrete at the moment.

twinklie the other thing is, scratch her ears. Puppy loves us like never before 'cos she can't scratch her ears and we can!! She's been very quiet today and I'm a bit worried, but no sign of infection and she was cheery enough to go walkies. Maybe the metacam knocked her out a bit. Googled the side effects and wished I hadn't. To think, when my last dog was spayed they got no painkillers.

Ahhh...I don't have to worry there...little Belle has been on Metacam several times for her joint probs (before we figured out she was faking for attention!)! Hmmm...

I need to get her nails cut but her nails are ridiculously thick and my clippers just don't look up to the job. Might see about getting a file to file them...her season seems to have brought them out in a growth spurt!

  • DH insisted we leave her in the sitting room last night so she could sleep on the sofa. Guess whose place she likes to stink up big??

Trick or treating for the littlies today, I ought to go to town and buy batteries and bulbs, if I can be bothered. Nothing much else to do.

    Hmn. peace.

How are you coping with the mess... And the fact that workmen don't notice they make a mess (yes, dust sheets stop the dust going on the floor... But you need to pick them up carefully and shake then outside for it to be worthwhile) and don't seem overly worried about anything that isn't part of their work... So will happily put their paint-stained mits everywhere...

I want to kill someone, so have to keep reminding myself it should be over by the end of the week...

I really feel your pain. Our builder's most annoying habit is having a fag break every hour...but I pay him for hours worked and if he's having a fag he's not getting paid.

It's when they have radio 2 on full blast it gets to me...

They don't get to have the radio on here... I work from home on the phone :D

So I guess I have to be grateful for small mercies...
