  • Hi all. Been galloping about a bit today - off to the bridal shop with daughters for fittings today. Off to Mum & Dads for a quick check-up visit (all going well thank goodness) then home for tea and a sit-down - phew!!!

The sausages John is talking about are available on-line, but you need to buy about £50 worth. They are really lovely though and it may be worth getting a few friends together to bulk buy. They are specifically made to be SW friendly. Web site is https://www.joessausages.co.uk.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  • Big Fat Bummer - Just realised that melons aren't free on No Count and I have been eating loads of them this week:eek: That will teach me to check the book before I buy something:o
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

hello everybody. Maintained this week so I'm quite satisfied, since I wasn't very good at the beginning of the week.
Sorry I can't stay longer today, I hope everyone's doing fine.
    Greetings to all the newbies!

  • Hi everyone. Only just discovered this thread which looks great.

Well, a couple of years ago I managed to reduce my weight from 25.9st to 21.3 st. Then I stuck. I'd managed to get so I could walk around again and not fall back into the past habits of binging and stayed within my comfort zone. I've maintained that for long enough its time to move onwards and downwards - checked this morning and I weigh exactly 21.7st so I think now is the time for phase two.

Seeing as I spend so much time on this site I thought it would be a good idea to join in here as I begin my next personal challenge to make it down to 18st. (I know that must seem massive to most of you but it's a dream to me at this stage). I am going to try and motivate myself by all your successes and rush here if I feel the urge to panic and binge. Will continue how I did before to eat healthily, watch portion size and prepare carefully.

Today I will begin my walking plan again. Once round the block with a chair waiting by the door with a glass of water beside it. ;)

Wishing you all success this week.

    Starting weight 21.7st

    Hi Cheerfullness!
    Welcome to our little gang!
You've done brilliantly already, and maintaining the loss you've already had is no mean feat, so well done!:T
There's always someone popping in here so you won't have to wait long for some company usually.
Good luck with the walking - I always used to go to the gym and yoyo diet but since getting a dog and being more disciplined about having to walk him I have found no added benefit of the gym (and the cash spent on it!) that can't be gained by walking instead.
I do still pop to the gym every now and again (less than I would hope to though) but have still managed to lose weight by simply walking and eating better.

Are you following any particular plan or are you using the tactic of cutting down, eating more healthily and taking a bit more exercise?
I find that a group works for me - I do SW - but I also pop on here most days for a chat and some support and a laugh.
I think that whatever you do has to suit you and whatever you're comfortable with will eventually show the benefits.
    Anyway enough waffling,
    Have a good day
    Rachel
  • Hi Rachel,

Thank you for the welcome. :D

I'm not following an plan, just eating sensibly. My doctor recommended I just think carefully about how much and how I cook and take regular exercise, at this stage mainly walking they thought.
Worked for me last time, but I need to up the tempo now. I've not reduced my food intake for some time so I shall now whilst I'm chomping at the bit to go.

Shall look forward to reading everyones news.

Hello again folks, it's the misery-guts again! I'd lost a wee bit when I got on the scales this morning so that got me off to a good start, and I've not eaten too badly so far today, so things aren't too bad. Not quite bursting with motivation but anything's better than nothing! MMP, I know what you mean about exercise because just a few weeks back I was doing a half hour workout every morning before work! It's just that my routine's scuppered for various reasons and I am struggling to get myself rolling again - hopefully this will all resolve when I get a rest!

Good for you cheerful, I wish you all the best with your goal. I'm sure you can do it - in fact, we're all capable of reaching our goals, it just takes longer for some than for others (I speak from experience, oh yes!).

I might cave in to making a fruit crumble in a while (but I'll use oats which are healthy, right? :o...!) but at least that's one of my 5 a day :p

Hello cheerfulness. That's a lovely nick! Whenever you feel like bingeing come here instead, OK? We'll make it in the end!

  • Hi all and welcome to cheerfulness. You have done incredibly well so far, and I'm sure your determination will mean you reach your next goal just as you intend to!

When you go for your walk, aim to walk at a speed which makes you become a bit breathless, but don't go so far as to be gasping for breath. Ideally, you should still be able to talk as you walk, unless you're a bimbo blonde of course :rotfl: ..........sorry, couldn't help that one!!!

Do you drink lots of water cheerfulness? If not, do try to aim for a minimum of 2 litres every day and even more when you get hot and sweaty.

There are lots of recipes on this thread to help you on your journey (go back to post 1 and click the link). Some of them are SW and some are WW, but all of them are low fat/calorie and intended for slimmers just like us.

I look forward to getting to know you over the coming months :D

Right everyone - 5 weeks to Christmas. How are we going to cope over the festive season? Are you going to eat, drink and be merry and to hell with the consequences, or are you going to try and stick roughly within the guidelines?

Here's a scary list of what you may consume at a Christmas buffet:-

    2 mini pork pies......20 syns
2 chicken drumsticks (with skin)........9 syns
    Handful of potato wedges..........8 syns
    1 medium sausage roll...........11 syns
    2oz slice quiche............10 syns
2 mini filled vol au vent.........6 syns
Couple of spoons of pasta salad.........8 syns
2 level tbsp sour cream dip with 4 Ritz crackers...........9 syns
Heaped tbsp each of coleslaw & potato salad..........7 syns

    1 mince pie.............11 syns
    1 portion trifle...........15 syns
2 small glasses red wine..........9 syns

    TOTAL 123 syns

Whereas, you could have a Success Express spread:-

Fill one third of your plate with (free on Green or Red days)
    Thick slices ham/turkey/beef/pork/salmon
    Syn free potato wedges
    Skinless chicken drumsticks

Fill two thirds of your plate with Superfree
    Quorn sausages on sticks (unlimited)
    Slices of frittata (unlimited)
    Stuffed tomatoes & celery
    Syn free dips and crudites
    Pickled onions/beetroot/red cabbage

If you're like me and can't believe it's Christmas food without a trifle, I make a lowish syn one using fresh fruit with sugar-free jelly and low-fat custard with a topping of quark mixed with granulated sweetener. Sprinkle the top with a crumbled Cadbury's Flake and it works out at about 25 syns for the bowlful or around 5 syns per person.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    Hiya all

Hope you all have had a good weekend. England won the rugby so Im a little happier.

Welcome to Cheerfulness, Hope you crack on and try your best, plenty of help in here. and dont worry, your not the heaviest in the forum :)

I have tried a couple of time to go swimming last week, but Im not the most elegent of swimmers, though I did manage a few length, can walk up and down stairs at last so at least the knee is getting better after the operation :) I wish it would hurry up though as I feel I have another gain to be embarrassed about

I am probably going to buy a neoprene knee support tomorrow and hopefully at least get back in the gym to cycle and walk on the treadmill then see how is feels after that.

Right Im off to mothers for dinner, Hope your all doig well.
