Hi Honey,
I hadn't seen your post before I replied to consultant. Have we esp on our thoughts.
Hope you enjoyed your flapjacks0 -
I did, but felt very guilty after so have just had a large syn free dinner to help account for it!
I've totally lost the motivation I had at the start, I think its cos I don't seem to be getting anywhere over the past few weeks: maintaining, 1/2 on, 1/2 off ...etc: How do you all motivate yourselves? Any advice, apart from the dreaded boot0 -
Hi guys, this is my first post for a while. I left the boards for a while whilst sorting out some personal issues. Just wanted to put a post on here to encourage all you weight loss people
I started WW last July at 21 stone, and now last week managed to make my target of 12st 12 so lost over 8 stone.
Have to say I cannot fault WW, their system does work but I understand how hard people find it and how confusing their points system can be, so thought Id post a few tips that people may find useful.
Although WW say there are free foods, this isnt strictly true as they are only free when eaten in small quantities..
The best thing to do is for people to post their favourite meals here and I will try and offer a recipe for low fat version of that meal. Its not always possible if you say you love deep fried cheese haha, but I am a reasonable cook and enjoyed the challenge of keeping eating my favourite meals whilst adapting my recipes to ensure I stayed within my points values.
I found that my portion sizes probably actually increased, and yes a little forward planning was needed and maybe a little more prep work on the meals, but so many can be prepared ahead and frozen down in portion sizes. My other half also ate the same foods as me at meal times when we ate together and he didnt feel a difference in his eating habits and he too lost 3 stone. Whilst still having his treats during the day.
I get a lil passionate about weight loss, as I spent 10 years at circa 20 stone complaining I couldnt lose weight, but with a lil support and advice I managed it. The support and advice many people need and get from the classes can be gained here on this site. We are after all a community and collectively much bigger than any class we could visit with WW and its FREE!
If anyone is interested message me and I can easily start a new thread and even arrange online meetings if people feel they would benefit
Just let me know
Sorry I waffle ! Youll get used to it, but Id love to help and support others to gain the benefits I did for the weight loss.
I used to have high blood pressure and dangerously high cholesterol and also was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. With diet my cholestrol dropped 15 points to 2.8 and my blood pressure is well within normal levels, and I no longer need medication for my diabetes, so weight loss does benefit all round
Take Care

A quick hello to all of you and thanks to Honey & Dihunny for your hugs and support.
Welcome to John (Bambam) and well done on your amazing weight loss. I always think it's specially good when a man loses so much weight since he's not usually driven by the same forces that drive us women!! I can see that you're passionate about weight loss, but I suspect you're no more passionate than the rest of us on here, who, for the most part, have also spent years as an unhappy lump and are now joyfully seeing the inner (thinner) person shining through.
We're all (I hope I can speak for the others) grateful for help and support from you and everyone who's willing to give it, but I hope you don't feel the need to start a new thread - this one's brilliant!!!!!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Well done John, you've clearly achieved a lot and your support on this thread will be a great boon to the rest of us who still working on it. Glad to hear your Mum is home consultant hope you're all doing well. I have a question - if one was to buy a muffin for children in need do you still have to count the syns or is it syn free because it's for charity?!
Okay, i'm not holding my breath here! I know I could have just donated the money, but when professional chefs are making chocolate muffins . . . and i was doing so well this week too. syn free tea for me tonight and time to put the cheesecake mullerlight back in the fridge.0 -

As long as nobody sees you eat it you might get away with it :rotfl:
Heading to London on the first flight out of Belfast tomorrow morning for a [STRIKE]dirty[/STRIKE] relaxing weekend with DHKids are staying at home with my parents :j Whilst I am looking forward to 2 nights break I am also feeling guilty about not taking them. I am quite sure Monday's weigh in, (athough I may not be home in time) isnt going to be good. Theres talk of chocolate truffles and champagne and I'm not sure that they are free on SW :rotfl:
Have a good weekend all, will catch up on Monday x0 -
SOrry, meant to say Well done and Welcome to John. What an achievement :T0

Gee thanks guys
I wont start new thread this is good. Sorry for ignorance I hadnt read it all before (slap me hard haha)
Well can I add anymore tips than are already here
Heres a few ways I found to lose the weight and easily without the need to spend loads of money on additional things such as gym etc etc...
Walking was a big thing for me, I started to walk round where I lived and managed to up to almost 4 miles a night (only few times a week). I chose times when I would usually watch TV or would be surfin the net (ebay) to spend money so I guess it saved me cash in the end haha. Exercise played a big part in helping keep losing. I know it isnt everyones cup of tea, and its hard. Belive me at 21 stone I broke into a sweat walking up stairs. Just keep with it and force yourself to do it, it is best if you have a friend you can take as you can just gas as you walk it passes so much quicker
I missed my stodgy foods specially in winter, but have some recipes for hot pot (well my version haha) which was stodgy and fillin and nobody I know could eat the portion size I ate. All of this was within my daily point allowances and I still managed to have treats just had to find alternatives that fulfilled my cravings
For most people in my class I was weird as I managed for six months not to go over my daily point allowance and even managed to get drunk a few times tooJust managed to get through day on free foods so that I knew I could drink and have a larf later on. Didnt mean I ate nothing Id have hooge portions of daft stuff. ( such as sprouts with gravy or cabbage with gravy thats a lil extreme i guess but omlettes made with whites of eggs and mushrooms with roasted tomatoes drizzled with balsamic vinegar) these were virtually free. There are many other virually free foods I ate too and am happy to trawl my journals to let people have recipes if they like
ill shut up for now as I can waffle for england on this subject, but if anybody has any questions let me know.
oh and one thing I did find is a sausage you can have sin free fwahhh this is sin free on slimming world but you can have a pack of 8 sausage on weight watchers for I think 6 points but this is great.
Anybodyt wants the details let me know they do loads of flavours. they arent cheap tho
Speak to ya soon
